Then the only way that Microsoft can just let your default browser do the searches is to disable online searches via the OS (which obviously uses Edge)

19043 is Windows 10. This is Windows 11. All that I posted is Windows 11. I am on Windows 11, not 10, as I said several times before. If you are going to "Test" and include examples and processes from both Win 10 and Win 11, you are testing Apples and Oranges.

On Windows 10 I do not even have a search field in the start menu, so what you're saying is impossible for me to do :wink:

Unfortunately, on Windows 11 I don't know how to get rid of that search field in the Start Menu ... But then again, I'm using Windows 11 for work right now.

Start on Win 10 works a little differently with searches. When you click the Start button, or tap the WIN key, you just start typing, there is no "search field" per se. Yes, it appears you are typing blind, and you are. It will start filling in "hits" on what you type as you go. Not very intuitive, but that's how it works.

On Windows 10, if I tap the Win key, nothing happens, literally nothing. If I click the Start Button and start typing, then after the first tap the search field will show up with a small windows showing a list of guesses of what I want to type. For me, this list is limited to the list of apps since there is no Search indexing on my computer (I disable the Windows Search service). Whether this window is Edge or not, I can't say. But, this is the first time ever that I did that and most likely I will never do that again.

If he does have the trademark, it will be easy to prove.

Right click on the Taskbar and turn off Search. It's the first option.

I doubt he does. I think he was just looking for a quick payoff from Facebook to avoid all the litigation and associated costs. At least I took it that way. I thought it was humorous.

It would be a lot easier to bookmark TenForums.com when you have Firefox open.
Then click on the bookmark when you want to go there.

Right. In post #128, I pointed out that Edge also ignores my default browser in Windows 10.

I don't know if Microsoft recently made this change, or if it's been there all along.

Since I was talking about Edge, I don't see that I'm comparing apples and oranges.

As TC pointed out, you click on the start button, then start typing. The search bar shows up at the bottom of the start menu. Only the first couple of letters are blind.

If you type an URL, Edge will ignore your default browser and take over. Try it and you'll see that Edge opens, but not your default browser.

I turned off Search, but when I open the Start Menu and start typing the name of an app, it shows up. If I type an URL, it shows "open in browser" but nothing happens when I click on it.

And I'm in Windows 11.
