I don't know. As far as I know, it has always been called Startup Boost since build 88. But maybe not.
I don't visit the Edge settings that often. I don't even use Edge that often. My current Edge version is 102.0.1245.33. Are you using a different version?

By the way. I don't usually like stuff running at startup unnecessarily.
I wonder how much of a startup performance gain it offers.

When I first read the OP, I thought he was talking about Windows Fast Startup. That's where some of computer memory is written to a file to be read at startup in order to speed up the boot process. Then I clicked on the link and found he was talking about keeping parts of the Edge browser running in the background.

I want to think I currently have enough processing power that clever techniques like "Startup Boost" and "Fast Startup" are inconsequential.

I switched from Chrome to Edge over a year ago. For me Edge is faster and a better browser. I also use Edge on my Android phone and my other computers. Everything is always totally in sync everywhere.

I've actually tested the difference between Startup Boost on and Startup Boost off since posting my question. And on three computers, I can't notice any difference in startup times. So, for me, it's been turned off. Even if there is a minuscule time difference, is it really worth running these Edge processes at startup? And in fact, it's a false benefit, because you are still starting these processes, but at an earlier time to when you open Edge.

Nope, don't use it. It's unnecessary. Windows fast startup should not be used if you have an SSD either. Again , it's unnecessary and it causes needless wear.

Neither do I. Edge for me opens right away anyhow, plus having Startup Boost enabled means Edge processes are always running in the background.... and frankly, there's no need, imho, for them to be running.

Just looked at my Edge Settings. I expected to see Startup Boost defaulted to ON. It was OFF. I use LastPass. LastPass will not allow Edge Startup Boost to be active and automatically turns it OFF. Isn't that interesting?

My two cents: You don't really need Startup Boost anyhow... it just keeps useless processes running in the background, using up memory and CPU.

I simply didn't bother filling out my specs. I will say that I have an Alienware PC, with AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor and 32GB of RAM.
