Modifying an accent color doesn't work in Windows 11, why?

Hello!

Back in Windows 10, you could choose any accent color in Personalization, Color and then modify to a different hue. The final custom color was used. I noticed that in Windows 11, in all versions, the modifications of the color are ignored and the original hue is used. To see what I mean, click any color, click View colors under Custom colors and change hue, say to darker or lighter. Your changes are ignored and the original color is used. Why is that? Is there any way to force a specific custom hue? What about manually changing the RGB values in Registry? How to do that?

Just tried it myself and it works for me. I selected the accent colour, and then custom colours. I use the medium blue, and used the slider to make it darker. When I clicked "done" the colour changed as expected.

Are you sure it changed to the hue you selected and not in the original color? In that case it might be that I use the Aero Lite theme. I haven't tried it with the Windows 11 default theme.

EDIT: I changed the theme to default Windows light theme. I then chose an accent color and modified it. Nope, it didn't work. It used the original color without my modification. Modify an accent color and then click on the View colors again, you will see that your modifications were ignored and this is the original color, the original RGB values.

There's some thinking that your custom accent color is ignored, because it doesn't have adequate "visual contrast" with other assigned colors.

AveYo did some research, and there's some weird combination of visual settings to force the exact RGB color you want. If those combinations aren't met, then Windows doesn't follow your bidding.

I select the standard blue color and move the slider to the right end to make it a little brighter. It doesn't stay at the brighter hue, it reverts to the original hue. I haven't tried to change it to a visible different color. In Windows 10 it would stay at the brighter hue (the slider far right). I believe there must be a "web safe" or similar limit forcing the color to conform to some rules. If this is the case, how I disable that limitations? The desired hue is 0,128,255 in RGB values.

11 does not support Light mode, I have to use dark mode, otherwise 11 looks like bleached.
I hate it, since I can hardly see any text on it, I use light mode everywhere, even on android.

If that makes any difference, I use light mode for applications and dark mode for Windows to make the taskbar text white. If I use light mode in both the taskbar text is black and ugly. Also it affects other areas, I don't remember which. The best looking combination is light for applications (I don't like dark mode, it reminds me of MS-DOS in the 80's) and dark mode for Windows.
