Solved Mouse not working

Today my mouse has disappered on my windows 11 Acer Aspire, I have connected a mouse via usb and this works fine. Is it an issue with touchpad or mouse I am not sure. I have youtubed it and done the obvious , but it does not work if I remove my usb mouse. When I restarted it, this pops up
Any ideas please ??

I'm assuming you mean your touchpad is not working. Correct? That be the case, if an external mouse works, the problem is that your touchpad is defective. It's not an uncommon problem for a touchpad to go bad.

Oh gosh, its only 2 ,months old

then it should be covered under warranty. Make sure you've restarted laptop. Look in device manager. Under mice and pointing devices do you see your touchpad listed?

look for the touchpad on off via the Fn + whatever key. Mine happens to be Fn +F2, yours might be F6 or F7. Check the keyboard for the image.

Check HID and also carefully check the keyboard 'F' keys.

It's a bit of a faff, but you can eliminate most hardware faults by creating an Ubuntu flash drive which is bootable. Reboot into Ubuntu and choose to try, not install. If the touchpad works, it proves the problem is a Windows one, not a hardware one.

@Fabler2 suggestion is a good one. You might have accidentally hit a combination of keys that disabled the touchpad. If you can't find the key combination, it should be in your owner manual which you can download.

Elan is your touchpad driver. If my memory serves me correctly Elan has a service. Go to services. (search services-then open service app from search results)If there is one there for Elan (should be in alphabetical order) see if it is started. If it's started, stop and then start it.

The following 2 suggestions will cover all your bases. If you have to call Acer support they will want you to do them anyway.

Make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair. If it found corruption it could not fix followup with this command (note the spaces)
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Restart computer
(Note-you can follow up with another sfc /scannow command to make sure that dism repaired the files)

To eliminate software conflict causing the issue. If it doesn't happen in a clean boot, you have some software conflicting with Windows. Brink's procedure will help you weed out which one. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial.

It's disappeared alright. Contact Acer support as @glasskuter suggests.

After reading this topic, I fired up my own Acer One Netbook, and using my Fn + F7 keys, I was indeed able to toggle the Touch Pad on and off.

However, I don't use the Touchpad. It's slow and klunky, and a real waste of my time, and at 80 I don't have a lot of that left. So I use a wireless mouse, and always have.

Good. After looking carefully this time () it's under HID in device manager. " ELAN Precision Touchpad Filter Driver". Slight difference to mine. There should be the touchpad icon on the F10 key?

Yes there was an icon on F10,but no idea what it was ! I am unfamiliar with windows. Glad its sorted
