Multiple Internal SSD's showing as HDD (All Samsung).

Here is one i just can't figure out. I have many hard drives in my machine.. Only 1 Rotational Sata HDD. Main drive m.2 ssd, then 3 gaming SATA Samsung SSD's, 1tb/2tb/2tb. Samsung Magitian shows Trim is available on all of them. Windows Disk optimizaion shows them as an HDD, not an SSD, so Trim is apparently NOT running.

-I have re done the system assessment many times
-ACHI is enabled on All Drives
-Turned off Hot Swap ability in Bios. (They were listed as removeable).

Trim itself if i go to manually run it, fails on every SSD but my C Drive (m.2 ssd).

Try to manually run it on any Non C Drive ssd, i get:
The storage optimizer cannot start because you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation. (0x89000024)

-There is no intel rapid storage in this pc. Motherboard is a x570 Aorus Xtreme 1.1 with the latest AMD Chipset drivers.
D, F, G are SSD's E is a 10GB Ironwolf Sata HDD

As you can see CrystalkDiskmark shows the SSD's (i just showed D, but its the same on all of them) Support Trim.

Also the drives are basic, NOT Dynamic disks..

please have a look at this as winsat may help the system identify the drives correctly.

Thanks but i believe i stated i ran that multiple times, even on the drives singularly to make sure they were benchmarked properly. No Change.

Are they identified correctly in device manager? If not try using scan for new hardware in device manager.

Did you restart your PC after you ran WinSAT?

Here’s something else I sound on another web site: What worked for me was to run winsat disk -drive X for each of the drives, as winsat diskformal only seems to do the first drive and I have multiple partitions on the first disk, so it was still detected as HDD.

Yes, and Yes... I ran it independantly on all drives, (Admin Yes), and rebooted... No Change.

Unless somebody comes along with a better idea, you might need to do a repair install. But before I did that I’d definitely run a full disk image with whatever backup program you use.

the only other thing i can think to try of is. but make sure you have backups.
open the device manager and remove/delete one drive at a time
try this for one of the drives before attempting this with the other drives.

note. do not attempt this on C:/ drive
on the other drives you may lose data, hence backups.

restart the system and Windows 'should' reload the required drivers for that drive
hopefully with all data intact and then see if the drive is recognised correctly.

Windows relies on the storage controller driver to identify and categorize drives.
If the wrong or generic driver (like the Standard AHCI controller) is used, it may incorrectly categorize an SSD as an HDD.
Update the storage controller drivers (e.g., Intel RST, AMD SATA drivers, or your motherboard's chipset drivers.
With Samsung drives, I believe you should be running Samsung Magician and Samsung driver.
Also, update your bios . to latest version.

Open event viewer > system and application > post share links

If it doesn't work out, you can disable the default Disk Optimization task and create your own in the Task Scheduler.
Perhaps it will work if you specify the -Retrim option (you will need to see in the logs).

Good News, This has been Resolved. Thanks to all that helped.. What it was, as mentioned by someone above, the latest AMD Chipset drivers took over the standard ACHI Drivers for the Sata controllers onboard and (even AMD Suggests to not use them for optimal compatability) i removed them from device manager and now have these listed (Driver from 2015 was reinstalled by Windows 11 automatically on redetection)...

All SSDs now properly trimming..

(Btw just to note I use the Samsung NVMe Driver 3.3 for my C Drive).
