Solved My Windows 10 tablet will no longer load the Settings app

From Start Menu right-click Settings app from context menu select More --> App Settings to see is Settings app reset and register option in Settings opens.

Yep, it just opens and closes as previously described.

To repair or upgrade the Enterprise version of Windows 10 you need an appropriate ISO. The one at Microsoft's site doesn't include the Enterprise version. Try downloading it from UUP dump or some torrent. Also make sure you select the English version for US English or English International for UK English. The language version must be the same with the one you try to upgrade.

What is UUP dump ?

My tablet did not come with a dvd.

UUP Dump is a site that you can download various Windows 10 and 11 versions including Insider's builds. I just checked, they don't have Windows 10 Enterprise, but I found this Microsoft site:
Just make sure you download the appropriate language. Don't worry about the "trial" part. Since you have already activated Windows you can use the ISO to upgrade/repair.

TIP: Using a DVD on a tablet: You can either connect a USB DVD-RW drive with an OTG adapter (USB to micro-USB or USB to Type-C), or you can share the DVD drive of another computer and access it via network. Yes, I have done it. On the other hand, why would you need a DVD? Simply use Rufus to create a USB flash drive and boot with that using the OTG adapter.

The tablet is equipped with one Type-C 3.0*1 -- whatever that means.

I currently have a (power adaptor) 4-port usb-2 high speed hub connected to a usb to type-c dongle, made by j5. The only problem is that it does not fit snuggly into the port, so I have to be careful in how I plug it in and not move it. But it works.

How about resetting your tablet?

Warning: Resetting Windows is very similar to a clean installation aka format! You will wipe all your data and applications! Unless you are willing to reinstall all your applications from start and you have a backup of your data, don't do it! Before doing anything that drastic make sure it's exactly what you want.

PS: Refreshing Windows will keep your data but not your applications. I would not trust it either without a full backup of my data.

I am currently downloading the iso (says 7 hours) from that link but I am sketchy about going through with it because I am not sure I like some of the things listed under the Prerequisites and Installation Guidelines.

As far as backing up data, I have them on flash drives. It's the programs that I don't want to lose. I mean, I can reinstall them but I would rather not. Plus, I had installed them on a non-buggy, but working Windows OS before all this nonsense started happening.

And, as far as resetting the tablet, it was going to be my last resort because I have two licensed software that I recently installed on it and the installation takes some time for each. But if I were to end up Resetting back to the original state, I would want a surefire way to turn off updates and upgrades in order to avoid this issue with the Settings app. I would then do a new system image and use that for a clean Reinstallation should the need arise.

I forgot to mention when I started this topic, that there is a C:\Windosw.old folder. Is that something I can use to go back to that old version state? It was working before the upgrade it made on me without telling me or giving me the option to not go through with it.

If you have the Windows.old folder, hold SHIFT and restart. Select Troubleshoot and then select to restore your previous Windows version (not remember the exact description).

You can avoid any updates if you stay disconnected from the internet. First make sure you have all drivers and applications downloaded beforehand so no internet required to install them and then disconnect from the internet or enable flight mode. Install everything, make sure they all work as expected and then connect to the internet to install any updates. Use the Windows Update Show/Hide Tool or WAU to block any undesired updates.

And does this remove the programs that I installed?

Yes, if you restore the previous version it will be lime before the upgrade. I don't know what happens with the new applications, probably you won't have to install them again, but not take it for granted.

Actually, the apps were installed long  before the upgrade occured. So those programs should still be there (in the windows.old) folder..., correct?

Yes, they will. It will be like going back from Windows 10 to 7, if you know what I mean. All your applications will be there, just the Windows version changes to the previous one.
