New Version of ExplorerPatcher

I stopped using EP , its too buggy , besides WU could fail with all these interfering in the OS................ :wink:

Never had any issue using Explorer Patcher and installing all available Windows 11 updates. Only when I upgraded to 22H2 I right-clicked the taskbar and Explorer crashed. After I uninstalled Explorer Patcher and Open Shell the issue fixed. I then installed the latest version of both and never had any issue again.

Been using Explorer Patcher on Insider Dev builds since its very start. Not once have I had a problem with weekly builds/updates or otherwise.

At least as long as you wait for the release of corresponding symbol file (which however isn't always released for Insider nor preview builds).

Never been an issue, just let them load at login time and I never had to wait for new symbols.

Dev builds are released on other days.
Never been a problem and never had to wait for new symbols.

In all fairness, Windows Update shouldn't break due to EP. However, I would agree, it's very nature is very buggy because of how it is implemented. It's a glorified "hack" and hooks onto the existing Windows APIs from what I understand.

If used with default settings it should not have any issue. The only changes I do is to combine the taskbar icons and display Windows 11 network flyout (since the default Windows 10 doesn't currently show icons at the bottom, but labels such as "Flight mode"). For anyone experiencing issues, the fix is simple, just uninstall and reinstall it. Needless to say that you should always run the installer with right-click, Run as Administrator to make sure installation won't fail or be incomplete due to access rights. Also, if you have a third party antivirus, disable it temporarily before installing to make sure it doesn't interfere with the installation.

@derykmarl You're welcome.
When I prepared the first script, I postponed the version control. Thanks to your message, I remembered and added the version control to the script. ExplorerPatcher_Updater.bat now first compares the installed version with the latest version on Github. If the version on GitHub is new, it will download it and run the install command.

Yeah, if I were to judge by some of the replies and reactions, I should have shown the middle finger a long time ago...

I don't understand where this trash talk over a free, open source program developed in one's spare time comes from. Not dedicating more of my free time to fix it on builds that change every couple of days is a middle finger? I don't think so. You're the one freely middle fingering people because you somehow feel entitled to things you definitely are not entitled to - should have been rather obvious.

I currently don't have it installed as it breaks build 22621.754 pretty badly so I will be patiently awaiting an update that fixes it; but you have my thanks and my appreciation for this fantastic utility Valinet

I think Valinet has done a great job and I've used EP since he first released it with very few problems and most problems just require a restart of Explorer to fix. I'm on 2022 22H2 (OS Build 22621.675) with no problems.

Not only are people ungrateful some come across as very condescending and should realise that if you don't like how EP is progressing then stop using it and go back to W10 or just use W11 as is, also if you've nothing useful, positive or helpful to say why post..

I really appreciate what Valinet has achieved and really hope he does continue but whatever he decides is ok. Well done!

Yes Explorer Patcher works correct on 22H2 22621.675 but not in 22H2 2262x.7xx

Microsoft add some tweaks to Windows Explorer and when you install Explorer Patcher you see only wallpaper on Windows Desktop. No icons, no menu start , no taskbar, only works Task Manager.

I was talking about that when update x.7xx went into beta channel and then into preview channels and soon will be on rtm channel.

And you have seen and can confirm that symbol file for that particular 2262x.7xx have been downloaded?

No. I only see wallpaper on my desktop. I have no info from Explorer Patcher.
