I don't use the weather app, so I haven't seen this bug.

After EP says it sucessfully downloaded the symbols and asks me to restart explorer, that's when I usually decide to reboot again. In my experience, doing this will effectively prevent issues with explorer (such as the issue that you describe) before they actually occur.

I have been taking Dev builds which are ahead of the Beta channel. I am thinking it might make sense to switch to Beta but I won't be able to do that until there is a Beat build at the same or lower build level to the one I'm currently on.

It doesn't download the new symbols until after you restart so it won't be busy then.

I usually let my computer rendering some video or download stuff, so I cannot restart any time I want. I have to wait until it is ready. Once I restart, most bugs are gone.

What I meant was, when you update your Windows to the latest build number, then at some point you will need to restart your computer to finalize the install of that update. Next, you can just let EP download the new symbols, and, after it notifies you that this went successful, you can simply decide to restart your computer once more (i.e., in lieu of just restarting explorer via the link that's in the bottom left corner of the EP settings window), as that's when your computer won't be busy yet (due to the fact that it's just been restarted, already in the first place). By following these steps each time when I update Windows to a new build, I have been able to completely avoid all explorer.exe related problems. But if it turns out that it still doesn't, then I strongly suggest doing a repair upgrade of your Windows installation. Abnormal lag occurring in File Explorer is a symptom that indicates something else might be the culprit so, likely, EP is not to blame for that. It could be something as simple as a broken or outdated codec installation when certain media filetypes have been set to preview thumbnails instead of show icons, in which case the solution would be to let the installer of K-Lite Codec Pack (from codecguide.com) detect and fix it for you. A very long time ago I had that problem with XviD that was driving me insane, and KLCP immediately sorted it. If everything else fails, make an image of your Windows partition and do a clean install of Windows. Only THEN will you be able to see if EP causes your computer to explode.

EP is not designed to work with dev or beta builds, as it is too much work keeping EP updated as there are so many releases

Explorer 7 command bar broken 10 ribbon as well stuck on wretched win-11 menus
Not sure how I've not updated 11 in a while I'm on current new EP tried older and same issue.

Hi. I'm having a pretty major issue where I launch the latest ver. of EP, but all it seems to do is restart Explorer. There's no "pop-up" or whatever you want to call it that enables me to change any of the settings I *should* be able to change w/ EP (I have used it previously).

I'm using W11 22H2. I had OldNewExplorer installed and promptly uninstalled it to see if it made a difference, but that wasn't the case. Any suggestions?

Disable Explorer Patcher, install all Windows updates, restart and update Explorer Patcher as well.

Older version works better atm than a couple of the newest for myself
So yeah sometimes older is better according to my last screen shot all is well

I woke this morning and Explorer Patcher will not run, so I've lost my Start menu, taskbar shortcuts etc.

There appears to be nothing mentioned in Issues nor Discussions, so I thought I'd check.

Do we know if an update is in the works?

Thanks! You're right, I should be aware of what people are doing and what problems they're having. I tend to ignore threads having to do with modifying the OS.
