Sorry guys, I Have just been told this has already been posted

I understand soon, in a future build of Win 11, searches and links will only work using Edge, all addons and popular programs will no longer work like EdgeDeflector etc.
Check out this link to use your preferred browser

Make Windows 11 Open Search Links in Default Browser

My Windows 11 is up-to-date and Edge Deflector is still working...at least when I search from Windows.

which build are you on? I think it is the newest Dev builds. It has been well documented on the web about this forthcoming change

I'm on my classroom computer and have RTM Windows 11 on it. I need to take it down and put my main computer back up so I can check this out.

I'm just not sure Microsoft can actually get away with this, especially in light of the lawsuits across the pond about browser restrictions.

The best way to test this out is to do a internet search via the start menu search. I found that when I do that and open a link Edge is used.

Thanks, Jeff. Main computer is back in bidness! :)

Edit:

Welp, although Firefox is my default browser, Edge took it upon itself to kick FF to the ground. I am not a happy camper about this!

It worked, Jeff. I searched for TenForums and got there using my default browser Firefox. I didn't get the green line they said I should, but when I closed Terminal and searched, Firefox was used.

Of course, I'll probably have to do it again and again every time Windows 11 DEV is updated.

On Windows 8.1 I had Edge installed, and it did not cause any trouble. On Win11 an Edge window appears often even though another browser is set as default. Would it make sense to uninstall Edge using hacks and then re-install it as a normal program?

It worked, Jeff.
I couldn't figure out WHAT worked, until I tried the #1 post link that sent me to this page

Where I got the script appropriately named ChrEdgeFkOff, and when I ran it in PS, it worked for me, too. A search from Start for TenForums.com showed a link with the Edge icon, but clicking that icon took me to TenForums.com in my browser of choice, Chrome.

Yes, Edge, FO. :mad::mad:🖕🖕

That was it...and go figure...cumulative update that came out today just broke it. Looks like I may have to try this solution.
