Solved NordVPN stopped working in this version of Windows 11

Just done the CU upgrade for Windows 11 to 22000.176 and the NordLynx tunnel is still working
with the latest installed 6.39.3 version of the nordvpn setup, so I guess this is the nordvpn Windows 11 fixed version of the product.
Same here............

Thank you for this info.
I downloaded this Setup and NordVPN is working well.
They have made some changes to the Wireguard Tunnel, earlier there was a separate permanent Nordlynx connection in the Network adapters.
This was giving all the problem.
Now, they have made changes so that the Nordlynx is established only when the VPN is connected, once we disable the connection, it vanishes from Network adapters and the Device Manager !

Greetings.
I'm normally using NordVPN, but after the latest update of Windows 11 (now Windows version 22000.132), NordVPN can't connect to anything. In devicemanager there is a fault
View attachment 5597

Sorry, my Windows is in Danish, but I have translated the danish text in google translate to english:
Devicestatus
Windows still configures the class configuration for this device (code 56)

I have uninstalled NordVPN completely, downloaded the newest version (NordVPN 6.38.15.0), and installed it with everything in standard settings. But the same error pops up when trying to connect to any server.

Anybody know what to do? (except going back to windows 10)??

Hi,
There is a new version of NordVPN and a new version of the NordLynx Tunnel driver and now my Windows 11 22000.194 works fine with NordLynx tunnel.
No error showing on the driver anymore.
Still fails connecting with NordLynx with Development Build 22458.1000 even with the latest version of the NordVPN and NordLynx Tunnel Driver.

Windows 11 Beta Build 22000.194 OK:

1632190405447.png
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even more confusing now with this latest version of NordVPN 6.39.6.0 and Tunnel Driver 0.11.0.0 😆:

It seems to work fine with Windows 11 Beta 22000.194, but fails in a completely different new way with Development Build 22458.1000.
It does not show error 56 on the driver anymore, but it fails to connect to NordLynx after several seconds attempting to connect.

Interesting that the older Version 6.38.15.0 with Tunnel Driver 0.8.0.0 works fine with Windows 11 Development Build 22458.1000 while the latest one fails solid.

The workaround is still connecting by using Open VPN (TCP) or OpenVPN (UDP) which still work fine.
This is yet another new failure of NordLynx. I sent all the information to NordVPN, waiting for a reply.

NordLynx Tunnel adapter and driver disappear from device manager after it fails to connect to NordLynx.
Another confusing factor is that even on the working Beta this adapter and driver only show up when the connection is established
It disappears when not connected.

with regards to the builds you mention the 194 is the latest Beta build and is on the route to RTM, the 22458.1000 build is a development build in a branch not due for release for a long time, maybe fall 2022

The best thing you could do is report the issues to both Microsoft and Nord, to they can work on fixing the issue - This is the whole purpose of the Development Branch - whereas the BETA branch is in the final stages leading to release

@barman58,
I know what the Beta and Dev builds are, I have both, MS doesn't seem to care about NordVPN bugs, so I'm just in contact with NordVPN.
The weird thing is that the original problem was on Beta 22000.xxx, now this new problem is on Dev 22458.1000, it fails solid with latest NordVPN 6.39.6.0, but it works fine with previous version 6.38.15.0.
Go figure ?
I would expect NordVPN to tests their stuff also on MS Development Builds, if I can test it, they can too.
Do they expect just the users to be their testing Guinea pigs ? 😎

The whole point of open beta and especially open Dev level testing is to test new code against as wide a test bed of hardware as is possible - this helps Microsoft in that they can locate potential issues in the OS code. as for Nord and other 3rd party developers it is their responsibility to make their software Work with Windows, so issues are best communicated to both Microsoft and Nord as both could have issues in their code.

Unfortunately VPN software (and hardware like my security system - a hardware VPN), has a bad reputation in the industry, quite undeserved I my opinion and this can lead to less emphasis on internal development for the likes of Microsoft

The Dev builds over the next year until the next Windows 11 release, (assuming the once annually release will be a Fall one ), will likely go backwards as well as forwards with regards to the compatibility of any individual features. this is normal with any OS linking to 3rd Party software

I don't really care about your gratuitous opinion, like it or not, MS has the NordVPN app listed in the FBH, so it is something to report to both, MS and NordVPN.

This is a Nord issue, not something for Microsoft to fix.
This is true, Nord does have a problem of Nordlynx tunnel even in Windows 10, whenever there is an upgrade, that tunnel stops working.
Reddit and other forums are full of such complaints, and Nord does acknowledge this and gives a solution which unforunately doesn't work.
I thought that the latest update of Nord did fix it, anyway there is no problem (after 6.39.6.0) in my systems, both Win10 and Win11.
Perhaps you should uninstall, including registry entties, and do a fresh install (of Nord VPN) and try ?

@Cineman185,
I guess you did not read the description, of the problem ? Version 6.39.6.0 works with Windows 11 Beta Build 22000.194, but fails with Windows 11 Development Build 22458.1000 and the symptoms are different from the original bug.
Yet Build 22458.1000 works fine with previous version of NordVPN 6.38.15.0.
For now I just reinstalled 6.39.15.0 a reported the bug to NordVPN and also to MS.
The same problem was verified in two different machines with Build 22458.1000.

As said earlier, Nord says:
"However, we can assure you that the NordVPN application will be prepared to work at 100%
of its capabilities with the official release of Windows 11."
@Bengie,
Another gratuitous useless comment !
We know what NordVPN said, but they screwed up again with the latest version 6.39.6.0 and I reported the issue with all the details to their support, just waiting for another B.S. canned answer.

Thank you Admin, there is no need for that sort of language.

After 11 is officially released and then if Nord doesn't work, you will have a legitimate complaint.

I uninstalled Nordvpn with Revo Uninstaller.
Then upgraded to Windows 11
Installed Nordvpn, and all works perfect.

Works this week for me with both Win 11 22000.194 and also with Dev 22471.1000.
NordVPN Version 6.39.6.0 and NordLynx Tunnel driver 0.11.0.0 dated 5/10/2021.
The version and the driver look the same as the ones that failed on previous Development Builds of Windows 11.
Something has changed that makes it now work.
