I just bought an Office 2021 Pro Plus license from a site and it was mentioned that I needed to activate office by Phone.
I received the key and with that there was the instruction for activation. In that instruction they also said that I have to
activate office by phone. But when I installed office and opened it for the first time, it asked for a key and after entering
the key I received it simply asked me to accept terms and it was activated! My question is: Did I receive another version
of Office then the one I bought?
I used officedeploymenttool to install office because I only wanted to install Word and Exel. In the Office2021configuration.xml
I added <Product ID="ProPlus2021Volume"> but it didn't work and gave me an error. So I changed it with <"ProPlus2021Retail">
and installation worked this time. Dose this mean I can transfer my license to another PC if I need to?

Sorry but might they have said that you "might" have to activate by phone?

Certainly there have been reports of users having to use phone activation when they reinstalled, even on the same computer.

All the best,
Denis

Thanks a lot for this information. I am on a local account and never use my MS account. But maybe it's a good idea to login to my MS account and have the license attached to that account !

No when buying the license there were two choices. One was phone activation account and the other one retail key. The phone activation account was MUCH cheaper and that's why I chose that!
