I totally feel sorry for those MS fanboys (and girls) that will be back on the forums, time after time, complaining about how some update screwed up something on their PC. How can you just enjoy your PC, when you're constantly dealing with problems???

Give me a brand new PC, with Windows 11 on it, and in a heartbeat I'll wipe it, and install my own Clean version of Windows.

Sorry about that! I just don't like computer problems, after spending 40+ years fixing them.

Cheers Mates,
TechnoMage

He's kind of got a point there.

As you Americans (apologies to those elsewhere in the world) might say, "I'll throw in a curved ball".

Whilst I have always used Windows, my 2 daughters have grown up with MAC laptops.
Typically I would say they have replaced there machines every 3 to 4 years, and generally MACs are more expensive, not easily repairable, and the cost of Apple repairing them is exorbitant.
My current Windows 11 PC (TOP-PANDA) will be 4 in June this year.
My current Windows 10 PC (TOP-MOUSE) is 13 this month. (And still used almost every day).
These are my working PCs, (always desktops) and I admit I have bought (for the wife) laptops etc which are Windows and not lasted as long as hoped. We had different requirements, as for me portability was not one of them.

As 'Reacher' would say, "Plan for the worst, hope for the best".

Ha! Caught me red handed. I don't write for a newspaper but I am a writer. I won't promote my material here for ethical reasons. I suppose I do a bit of everything. I'm fascinated by the folks in this forum. They're brilliant and from all walks of life. They have so much to offer and I've learned a great deal from many here. For instance, I didn't know that an iPhone uses more lines of code than a regular PC. I don't have an iPhone or a smart phone and I've never owned a cell. I aim to keep it that way. I'm a bit eccentric in that regard, but there it is. I maintain a page for my little town because we don't have a newspaper anymore. All of it is a labour of love. It's good to stay useful no matter how old one is, or what health problems they may have. This is my way of keeping on keeping on.
One of my daughters is a journalist and although I am not good at writing, she is very good.
I don't know if it is because of her that I can recognize a well written piece.
As for doing things as a labour of love, keep doing it.
In this difficult world (and getting worse it seems) some people are lucky (or well planned) that their hobby is their job.
It seems to me that you are one of those people.
My wife and I both run a very small business which is not really financially viable, but we keep at it, since it is better to pursue this and be active than sitting on our ..... watching TV all day.
So I say good luck to you.

Sportin the MX Keys S and MX Master 3S Mouse here, although, Logitech Flow is still glitchy on Options+.

I went for the MX Master S3 too. Then I thought I'd treat myself to the all new full size MX Mechanical. Both connected via the Bolt USB thing. My only gripe (and thousands of other folk) is there is no 'always on' or timer for the keyboard backlights. Logitech have no intention of fixing this even though it has upset so many users. Apart from that, it's a really great keyboard.

I looked this up to find out how different the MX Mechanical is to my K800, and was amazed that you can get a 'Storage Carry Travel Hard Case' that is just for this keyboard. Never seen that before. If you haven't got one, I suggest you get one to protect it from dirt, dust and rubbish.

My Keys S sucks for battery life! :nope:
That’s surprising. My wife's $35 Logitech standard keyboard lives for months, a year even on a couple of Double A batteries. But granted she wouldn’t use it quite as much as you use yours.

    ...Where's my horse?
That’s surprising. My wife's $35 Logitech standard keyboard lives for months, a year even on a couple of Double A batteries. But granted she wouldn’t use it quite as much as you use yours.
If I turn Backlighting off, it's pretty good, but, if it's on Auto, battery life is terrible.

My Keys S sucks for battery life! :nope:

Logitech claim the MX Mechanical battery will last up to 15 days with backlighting on or up to 10 months with backlighting off.

So yes, backlighting does use a lot of power.

EDIT: It's a shame they have grey letters (not white) on light and dark grey keys. If it had white letters, I could turn the backlighting off.

Microsoft bashing for no reason - it's a national sport :(
Agree. If anyone wants to criticize Windows, they better be pointing at the right thing to criticize, such as the dreaded event ID 4502 and random component store inconsistencies.

(y) I was just in the process of preparing a post about that!

My MX Keys (bottom) and MX Keys S (top), both un-lit. I have to use backlighting with the Keys S version! 🤷‍♂️ ...

I'm chuckling about this thread. I, too, dropped Logitech about 2018/2019
During or around that time, there was a bug in the Logitech updater, where it will delete itself, instead of completing the update.
That has been fixed for years now. (this was the gaming software for their mice)

Looks like I choose the right keyboard with my K800 as I like the fact that the lights come on when my hands get near it, and goes off after a few seconds of no hands nearby. Also it is wireless and has a rechargeable battery which I forget about and several weeks later it tells me it's getting low, so I plug it in overnight and next day back to where we were.
The real reason I'm posting this is because I always feel that ALL keyboards do not slope enough for me, as I tend to mainly sit back and use it on the table in front. I use the click out legs on my K800, but am thinking of putting a block of wood under the back of it.
Does anybody else 'suffer' from this issue?

Upgraded from Win 10 to Win 11 on 22/10/21.
I tossed my television in the dumpster in 1989 and never looked back. I like a monitor that I can interact with. I also like reading books (real ones). I really do fall through the cracks because I'm a cable cutter who still uses cable. I don't like WiFi so everything in my house is hard wired. No TV.

Thank you for the kind words. I likewise wish you and yours the very best.
