Ryzen 7 3800X on an Asus PRIME B350-PLUS here, gets higher passmark results than the link above, works very nicely with my GTX1080Ti which I seem to be stuck with due to nothing available that's better at a sensible price.

(y) that's why I put my comment under your post about getting new MB.

With your existing MB go for either Ryzen 5 or 7 of 3000 series. Both are massive update over your 3200G.

I could get a new motherboard in say Dec or Jan.. replace that and then get the new processor in Feb. That's an option for me to consider.

I didn't know you already have a GPU. I think that was the main reason you were staying with the G series before. Now you have more flexibility with processor options. Congrats! Enjoy whichever processor you eventually end up with. :)

The new GPU has freed up what I can do. Now I only have to decide if I want to replace the motherboard or not..

Oh, I actually wanted to suggest a new board too. It will definitely boost up performance. Check the bottlenecks with your current board because getting the Ryzen 7 will probably give you the same performance as the Ryzen 5 if your mobo can only give so much.

choose whichever you think you are more familiar with... BIOS interface, etc... these 2 brands are popular in the market so, I guess one is not necessarily better than the other unless you are looking for a specific feature that is unique to the brand. I personally have an MSI (my System 2).

I think budget wise I'll just get the 380)X and keep my current motherboard. While it's not going to be an optimal set up performance wise it's a huge improvement and it's budget friendly

I got lucky and I don't have to pay rent for a year so I have more money but I don't want to go overboard on this upgrade. The 40 is no big deal but anymore is a bit too much right now.
