All folders are now back on the DATA (D:) drive where they belong. I've double checked and all Sys folder properties, now they point to the D: drive.
Is there any thing that I should do to prevent OneDrive from reappearing?

Task Manager > Startup > Disable it. Don’t uninstall it. Block the exe. Can never come back to life.

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

OneDrive has had my C: drive so full, I wasn't able to create any restore points, so Sys Restore didn't have any restore points.
But... Thanks for that great suggestion, as I need to boot back to Windows, re-enable Sys Restore, and create a restore point!

Also make sure there are no entries to it in msconfig.

Run msconfig as an admin and if there are any OneDrive entries in there, uncheck them.

I use a 3rd party AV/firewall.
I just blocked EDGE in the firewall.

Can you suggest a free AV/Firewall, that can do that? And how did you do that, block the updater download?
I said "Free", no to be cheap, but no more that I use Windows (maybe 20min a month), a $39+ yearly subscription is just not feasible.

I just started using this one a few weeks ago...

block all windows 11 communication by firewall allowing only firefox.

So what's the difference between a "maintenance release" and a regular release? The difference between active development and maintenance of an application is pretty straight forward. It's a matter of active design, programming, testing and deployment vs. simple bug fixes, minor optimizations...

I've got the free Bitdefender and Windows firewall, but don't know much about the inner workings of either.
