Since starting my PC this evening OneDrive continually pauses, I have resumes it will pause again in a few seconds, I have unlinked One drive and re linked, still the same issue. Is this due to a problem on my side or on the server side?

This issue started when I opened the Photo App (not the new version) and none of my OneDrive images would show, said there was a syncing issue.

The syncing issues start as soon as I open Edge, I updated to the latest Stable build and then this started. I close Edge, use the pc and OneDrive will behave.

Edge is stuck on setting up Sync for some reason

i assume your MS Edge and OneDrive are using the same Microsoft account, but i would check that.

You could try resetting OneDrive using this command. It will clear cached authentication tokens.
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /reset

Try turning off the Edge sync and back on again.
  • Edge settings, Profiles, Sync
  • Turn off sync
  • close edge completely
  • reopen Edge
  • Turn sync back on

I suspect doing the reset and toggling the edge sync will likely resolve your issue.

It happens every 10th version or so. You have to sign out and sign in again, every time you start Edge.

By default Edge runs in the background nonstop, so then only after every restart. Maybe that is the cause for it, I have it disabled.

Tried that it doesn't work, these is some issue with Edge and OneDrive. One Drive will work as expected, open Edge, immediately pauses.

Even opening Edge as a new user results in the same issue, so it's not profile related, or it doesn't seem to be

What I have now noticed, if I manage to keep the OneDrvie Taskbar menu open while browsing, then OneDrive does not pause, this is getting more and more strange.

From the OneDrive log I found the following, which seems to be my issue:

10/18/2026 02:47:49.488 WebClient: !WARNING! (0x8020006F) WebClient(000001F907338E70): Download error 'UpdateXml' BITS error: The job was paused because there is an active Game Mode recipient that isn't the job's owner. The job will resume once the Game Mode recipient loses input focus or is closed.

How do I stop Edge thinking is going into Game Mode, I have all that crap switch off anyway

Check if Game Mode is enabled in Windows Settings and disable it. See if that makes any difference. Also I would leave the OneDrive window open until the sync is completed. Maybe when closing it is paused and doesn't finish.

I have disabled game mode and it makes no difference, the odd thing is there is nothing to sync. I am currently running the Insider build of onedrive, but the toggle to not use the Insider builds is not active. How do I go back to the current stable version? I want to see if that has the same issue

I guess you uninstall OneDrive and reinstall it.
