I have over 700 GB of FLAC music files on my D drive. Bvckup 2 also makes another copy on my E drive. OneDrive makes a backup in the cloud and gives me access to them when I'm away. The only other option apart from using a junction would be to clog up my system drive SSD with these music files. My system drive SSD is only 1 TB with 780 GB free. My two other internal drives are 8 TB with plenty of free space.

I've only ever used a C: drive. I've never found a need to keep my data on separate drives or partitions. I have a vast CD collection and I've digitized only a small selection that I'm currently interested in. In college I majored in piano and violin performance. I have a 7' 5" concert grand piano in my music room. As you might guess, I'm mostly interested in performing music.

I mercilessly cull my photos, so photo archival never gets out of hand. I'm not using much more than 30% of my local 1TB SSD and I'll never fill my 1TB of cloud OneDrive. My cloud OneDrive is currently using less than 20%.

Your archival needs far exceed mine.

I've done a lot of ripping and tagging over the years.
Not so much ripping these days as I source most new stuff from high resolution sites such as HDtracks and Qobuz. I rarely buy CDs and rip them now. The only exception is if I can't get a lossless album online, I'll buy the CD and rip it.

While I have tons more free Onedrive space, I prefer Google Drive since I can sync any specific folder I want. The only way to sync specific folders in onedrive is to use symbolic links which are a PITA. I have never had one bit of trouble with Google Drive.

2 TB seems a pretty good price. I prefer to pay yearly, which makes it even cheaper.
You're right about OneDrive not making it easy to sync specific folders. But creating a junction is fairly easy.

Hey Stigg, Sign up for GD and play with the 15 gb free storage before you buy. If you don't like the way it works, no harm, no foul.
But since your stuff is already in Onedrive it would be worth trying the uninstall/reinstall if you can't get sync to work any other way. The thing is with that much data, with either GD or OD it will take a while to sync everything no matter whether an uninstall/reinstall fixes OD or you start new with GD.

Of course, if you use Ofc365, it's automatically tied to OD and it only makes sense to use all that storage you get with 365. You would still be paying for it if you keep 365. It's a shame not to use what you're already paying for.

I agree with everything you said there, glasskuter.
The advantage of OneDrive is that it's part of Microsoft 365 which gives 6 family users Office and 1 TB of OneDrive storage.

By the way. I fixed my OneDrive processing changes issue. I just have a minor cosmetic sync icon issue which I'm not worried about.

Another interesting thing is, OneDrive that hasn't been updated since April is the modern UWP app. The one being updated now is a desktop app. What a mess. There are actually 3 different versions in 3 different locations, the one in ProgramFiles is the last one. Not sure why 24H2 has not...

Yeah, for my OneDrive usage, I just view OneDrive as basically a network file share. Meaning that I intentionally just put things into OneDrive that I want on OneDrive. I don't use it as a backup per se, meaning that I don't pick this folder, this folder and that folder to go into OneDrive. So, I don't even bother with junction points (symbolic links).

Yeah, this is also my primary reason for using OneDrive. I pay for Office 365 and not using it would be a waste since I'm already paying for it. I have mine, and wifes, son's and daughters phones all set to sync their camera rolls with their OneDrive space. This way they never lose anything and don't have to pay extra for phones with massive amounts of space directly on them.

And it seems quite a few of those unsuspecting users never even realized they had OneDrive. That fiasco even gave me a double take and I've used OneDrive for over 15 years.

The only thing that I'm disappointed with my OneDrive fix is that it changed all my folder and sub-folder dates to the same.
File dates haven't been altered, but folders dates have. I find this unacceptable, when all I'm doing is uploading.
