Hi,

does anyone face the same problem as me?

I copied 10 directories (each directory contains 20 files and the size of each file is around 5 MB at most) to another folder.
This operation took place within the same onedrive account and executed using the Firefox web browser (version 116).

Thus there was no downloading files from onedrive to PC and from PC uploading it to onedrive.

However, this operation was slow. I left it for 2 hours and all the file operation status was still 0%. At the destination folder, nothing had changed.

Then these are what I tried:
  • I refreshed the page (all copying progress disappeared).
  • I copied 10 files using the same browser.
  • I copied 10 files using Microsoft Edge browser (since I never use it and no extension installed).

Results, copying 10 files, it was fast, BUT the first file stuck at 0%. I gave up.

Plot twist:
The next day, the 10 directories magically appear at the destination folder.

I realise that OneDrive is useful to allow you to access your files from anywhere. Also you may not have enough disk space to store all your files locally. If neither of these apply in your case do you really need to store your files in OneDrive? Storing locally is a lot quicker and you stay in control of your files. Also storing locally cuts out internet connection issues or OneDrive issues so your files are always accessible when you are on the device where they are stored. Just something to consider.

The determining factor is "access from anywhere". Thus, I don't lug around a laptop anymore and I can access the files via my PC computer at home.

I am exploring of using NextCloud and trying out OnlyOffice and see how it goes.

Good luck but you will always be subject to internet speed connection issues as well as the remote server speed and any problems that it is having. Not something you can control.

If you have Google Drive then that is another consideration.
