It is a simple process to find and access Google storage.

Go to the Google Drive website for your account and it's broken down into the various categories, Drive, Photos, Gmail etc.

And, I didn't even want to CLOSE the account, that I didn't even know I had, , , I just wanted to delete all the crap that was in there. Cheeech!!!
I suppose that if I could close the account, that would screw up something else, somewhere else. Eh? I do have several GMail accounts, and I certainly don't want to screw those up. I know that they are not 100% safe, but, they're handy, and free. Even though I had to go through the multi-step process of creating an "App Password" for each account, so I could get my mail via "O.E.Classic". (an Outlook Express clone)

I took everything off the Cloud & OneDrive because i back everything up to an external hard drive anyway ! Now i still get notice from MS to upgrade my account for $1.99 ...............

The long and short of it is that when you sign up for a GMail account, you are not just signing up for a GMail account - you are signing up for a GOOGLE account. You don't sign up separately for GDrive, or what have you. It's all one big happy account.

I didn't know much about Google when I got my first GMail account, years ago. There was no explanation, or even a mention, about the Storage Account.
Buyer beware and all that stuff.
More recently I've read a lot about Google and their plans to take over the world.

For years, I thought that the idea of taking over the world was something out of a Cartoon. But lately, I've read a lot, about those who actually DO want to Take Over The World. It starts with Bill Gates and runs downhill from there. The CCP is another good example.

To repeat what I've probably said too many times already, "I don't trust "The Cloud" regardless of who offers it". There are just too many Unknown factors.
I want all my precious data files, some thirty years old, close by me, where I can reach out and touch them. Or at least the Flash Drive or HD that houses them. I have all my data files backed up to a 1TB HD, as well as several Flash Drives. Really OLD stuff has been transferred to DVD's for archival storage.

In spite of several HD crashes (all WD drives) over the last 30 years, I've never lost one bit of data.
Even when my entire computer system was stolen, one day, they missed my backups.

Not only data files, but I've also got programs that I like to use, that go all the way back to the early 90's.
I have multiple backups of all of those too.

My sisters house burned down. This ensured that i kept bckups offsite and evetually started to but some stuff to the cloud (it's on 2 devices, my own computer and the cloud).

Years ago, when I ran my own computer business and was setting up Backup systems for persons, businesses, and even a bank, one of my main stipulations was that there be at least one backup saved "OFF SITE". For the County and the Bank, that meant a backup locked away in a Fireproof Vault. For safety, it's just hard to beat a good Fireproof Vault!

PS: Did I forget to mention, , , that when I install a new setup of Windows, either 10 or 11, there are a number of things I will Uninstall.
Cortana is first, then WUDO, and then One Drive. Then most of the unwanted Apps will GO! From there on it's just a matter of "Good Housekeeping" (no, not the magazine). And I've become somewhat of an efficienado at that.

That’s really sad mate, I hope nobody was hurt.
It’s a devastating thing to go through. I was a volunteer firefighter during the Black Saturday 7 fires in Australia, February 2009. It was so heartbreaking comforting people. I cried for the entirety of that year, and on anniversary's, cry again. 120 people in my immediate community died, including my friends.
Also, so many lost everything.
And then we went through it again not so long ago, just as devastating, more people died, more houses lost.
I hope your family recovered well.

When I was still working, before I retired, and doing my patented (not) PC Tune-Up, I carried a Flash Drive full of little programs, scripts, and Batch Files that would greatly speed up the process of cleaning up and Tuning up a PC.
My first two most important programs, at that time, were the "McAfee Removal tool" and the "Norton Removal tool". I also had an "AOL Removal Tool", which I've not had to use in years.

I suppose that now, I should be working on a "One Drive Removal tool" EH?
Or maybe not, as the Revo Uninstaller does a great job, and it also has an option to remove Windows Apps. I've found that I can easily get rid of at least 10 of those worthless Windows APPS. My favorite saying, "Minus Crud is Cool!"

I'm thinking none of this will be necessary. The receivers that will be implanted into people (likely at birth) will be so small cumbersome hardware won't be a thing. People will be on a permanent network that will make WiFi look like kindergarten. Or, to put it in the words of Klaus Schwab, you will own nothing and you will be happy.

Maybe none of that will happen. Because maybe, mankind will have destroyed earth (and mankind itself) by using atom- and h-bombs massively. At this moment we're (in Europe) quite close to such a situation! In Asia as well!

My uncle helped in the clean up of Japan after the A-bombs were dropped. When he did mention it he basically just said it was a horrific mess that he wished he could remove from his memory.
