I remember looking at the Bose Acoustimass 5 but after hearing them, ran far away and bought my Audioengine A5+ speakers with the SB sub-woofer. No regrets and never ever looked as Bose speakers for my PC.

That said, I do own a Bose soundbar system with the subwoofer, as well as a couple of pair of their nose cancelling headphones including the HD 700 BT phones. I simply didn't like the sound of their "PC" speakers.

Anyway congrats on the new speakers. I assume they have a built in amp?

I don't really have much knowledge to recent Bose's line up. Just read some reviews.
But back in early 90s when analog system still in its glory, Bose was among most friends choices. By that time I still had an old blaupunkt system. I built the rest home system as a home brew which many audio magazines supported a system created through soldering components to self made board by soaking a printed PCB in ferro solution. Still remember how happy I was when sucessfully made one and kicking window glass. Yeah, my Dad wasn't about it. He said "You do nothing except making a lot of noise here!" :crys:
It's still functioning now but keep it in the box at my backyard. Keep it as part of my sweet memories.

Cool you were into it like that. I didn't go that deep but did/do dabble in audiophile setups :)

Anyway, I first heard of Bose back in the late 70's when I heard their 901 floor/wall speakers at a party. Powerful speakers, but you need a strong amp to push them.

I believe the 901's put Bose's name out to the world. I always thought about getting a pair but never did. Now I have no need for them.

Yeah it was. But in early 2016 the company was sold after announcing its bankruptcy.
Back in the day we have our own way to satisfy the ears for audiophile stuffs. I made home build as most of its equipments way far beyond my money can buy. 😊

I have to have my ohm walsh 2 speakers refurbished. That cost more than they originally did decades ago, but the clarity and imaging on the was spectacular. You could place where every instrument was in the orchestra.

Gotta find something modern that can drive them too - they are 4 ohm impedance. The Onkyo amp I had had power transistors that were well mated with these.
