Well I've ordered a new cpu and 2 sticks of DDR4 memory ....going to upgrade my main rig soon. Will be getting a new motherboard next, but I have not ordered that yet. ( ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Apex)

Same here, I am gonna keep everything else from my daughter's current PC including the GPU. I am just gonna replace the very old CPU. :)
Just replacing the CPU, MOBO and RAM.
The case is a Cooler Master MasterBox Lite.

Wonder how she is able to reach the power button? :)

Further to my previous post #19 my Surface Laptop S arrived a day earlier than expected
Disabling S mode allowed W10 Home to install, this only took a minute to complete.
Changed Update to Insider DEV, Updated to W11 in just under an hour. so no need to install with ISO
Initial thoughts novices will be screaming blue murder at its unfamiliar setup.
I found it easy to put APPS on the taskbar to make it similar to W10.

Nice! How much did you get it for?

SSDs are getting cheap these days. I remember when I bought my first SDD, It is Kingston HyperX which is only 120GB but it was like $250 at the time. Today you can get a 500GB for like $50.

I have quite a few for my OS testing and stuff...

I decided, I will do an upgrade together with my daughter's PC (Ryzen 5 3600 on the way) and I will let go of my 4th Gen i7-4790K.
At this point, I am not after "the best" and "the greatest". I just want to have an updated setup but I will still keep my GTX 1070.
I am switching to AMD with Ryzen 7 3700X.

I ordered a Dell XPS 8940 with an 11th gen I5 a couple of days ago. Also, ordered the premium cooler from eBay for it. I got the Dell for $390.00, seemed like a decent price for a brand new prebuilt. The cooler was $85.00, not happy about that but it was the cheapest one I could find. I did not want to fight with aftermarket coolers this time around.

Prices are just to high to build my own right now and this should run Windows 11 out of the box.
