Libre Office and Thunderbird, I might consider doing the same. I actually only really do the office subscription for the OneDrive storage, out of all the Office programs I basically only use Outlook, the classic version which Microsoft seem to be intent of breakign these days withn the intent to force user to use the newer in my opinion inferior version.

LibreOffice comes to the rescue of Microsoft Publisher users - TDF Community Blog

Yesterday, MS Publisher users joined the millions of users who have been abandoned – or forced into a completely unjustified update – by Microsoft over the years, alongside those using Office LTSC 2021 and Office 2021. Consequently, anyone who has purchased a Microsoft 365 subscription will no...

My Publisher is also gone with the latest update Microsoft 365 (Version 2608 Build 16.0.20326.20072) 64-bit
So now my Wife is just using the Portable Version of Draw in LibreOffice not quiet the same as Publisher however its the best out there that's similar.

LibreOffice Portable Stable | PortableApps.com

LibreOffice Portable is a full-featured office suite -- including a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing package and database -- that's compatible with Microsoft Office, Word Perfect, Lotus and other office applications. It's easy-to-use and feature-rich, performing nearly all...

Odd my work pc with build 2610 (20527.20112), which recently updated still has Publisher, so it does seem inconsistent. Still believe Publisher should be made free as a standalone unsupported version.

Well as luck would have it, decided to see what happens if I open Publisher

This now appears, I sign in and it says unlicensed product.

I even bought Publisher 2021 on its own it wouldn't let me install it with Office 365. Either one or the other. NOT TOGETHER
The only other option is to uninstall Office 365 and buy and install Office 2021 Pro which includes all of the office products including Publisher.
However no updates are available and again I'm not sure how long that would last before Microsoft kills Office 2021 Pro.
