Solved Phone Link | We Weren't Able To Connect To Your Mobile Device

A strange thing has been happening to Phone Link in the past two days.
I get the message on the right saying that it wasn't able to connect, but on the left, it shows it connected.

I've tried toggling Bluetooth off and on, but without success.

Any ideas?

Do you mean the Link to Windows app settings?
What setting would I have to change?

It seems to be working. I can see Messages, Photos, Apps and Calls.
It's just the error message on the right on the Calls menu.

I actually don’t know, Stigg. I assumed your S23 would have to allow the connection in settings somewhere. But after searching, it appears software is needed on your Android? But by the looks of the fact you’re already (Assumably) connected, you probably already have the software on your phone. Apparently some phones come with the “Link to Windows” app, some dont.

Well that’s ODD and reads like another Windows bug.

I'm starting to think that it may be a bug that's been introduced since the last Phone Link update.
Phone Link has had some dodgy updates in the past.

have you tried un-associating the phone then linking again, if you’re game?

Another thing to try is

Open Link to Windows on phone
Select linked account
Remove computer in list
Add computer back

I tried that. No luck.
It appears that the "Calls" menu is broken.

I’m going to take a guess and say that you would of already tried installing an older “Phone Link” version if it were possible. If it’s Windows end that has the issue, possibly not. I don’t have an Android phone so I really don’t know anything about rolling back app versions

Since unlinking and re-linking, the problem is still the same, but now I have no call history in the "Calls" menu.
Maybe that comes back after new calls.

Have you tried to uninstall Phone Link on your PC and Link to Windows on your phone. When done download and install them again.

Phone Link can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store on your PC.
Link to Windows can be downloaded from the Google Play store on your phone.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried uninstalling both apps yet.

I've been searching for a solution. There seem to be many reports of people having problems with Calls in the Phone Link app.

I was playing around with my S21 and only saw that message if it wasn't paired with my laptop. On the phone open Bluetooth and try unpairing it and repairing it with your computer. Note you also have to accept that pairing on the computer.

On your phone do you see your computer "Connected for calls"?
