Solved Plummer's got a brand new Gig.

For those who don't know who Dave Plummer is he's one of Microsoft's good ole boys writing programs and apps for Microsoft. In fact he wrote the code for task manager back when Windows was becoming a real thing. Dave hails from Saskatchewan, Canada, my sister Province, and he has a couple of YouTube channels as he is now retired (sort of).


You can get Dave Plummer's new and improved task manager on this link, which is approved by him. I can't get the app to work. Windows says it's unsigned. Sooo... If anyone could be of help?

Well, it's an unsigned file. Dave's smart enough to know it should be signed. And wealthy enough from his MS retirement to afford a signing cert.

Yeah, I wondered about that. My reasoning was perhaps my PC just wasn't reading the cert. Have already dropped feedback. Might try it on another PC.

His sight states that it is not signed, as it is a beta.
"A quick beta note: because this system utility is not yet digitally signed, your computer may ask you to manually approve it before the first launch. That extra confirmation is normal for this beta build."

For some reason my PC outright blocks it without giving me the option of manually approving it.

You have to unblock it from File Properties, first.

lol yes. I just remembered! I have it installed now.

Oh, I'm really enjoying this!

Once I got the permissions sorted it installed in like 10 seconds flat. I was just a little over eager to get this thing up and running. Definitely still in Beta but really enjoying the layout.



Not hard to see which core is doing what.

I looked at this one for 1 or at most 2 minutes in a linux VM with the AppImage version instead of the deb install..

40% CPU usage do to all the flashy graphics.. when change it to less smooth it dropped to 16% CPU usage. This on a VM with only 3 core 3GHz CPU, 4GB RAM.

what i did react to was it phoned home as soon i started the program..
it connected to domain tmog.com and IP 188.114.96.1
I did not see in settings about searching for updates or other things.
The program still works even if i blocked it from internet access.

I only saw this wile i tested the program for a minute or two as i also saw a lot of features did not work.
It seems as this will become a payed software as some things is only in the "Pro version".

I did not do a traffic analyze of the phoning home connection, so i have no clue of why it connected to the internet...



Now its time to shut down my datacenter and unwind for an hour before bed.
