People who wear a mask and/or had the vaccine shots are still catching Covid. I got the vaccine shot to make my wife happy. I still believe that unless someone has underling health problems that Covid is no more serious than getting the flu.

If your talking about the NVMe drive swap that was a error of doing a system backup from a drive using Optane memory to a drive that was not using Optane memory. Totally not the same.

I would be surprised if a programmer's workflow does not include backups (and other things like version control, configuration management, etc., etc.) to instill confidence in the work product.

I do the weekly image backups because I'm on the Dev builds. On my wife's laptop I do monthly backups. She is on the release builds.

I am not a programmer, but I do essentially the same thing: I back up my data, and will re-install OS and apps. The latter happens so seldom (only once every x years) that I am happy to take the opportunity to have a squeeky clean machine

Edit: Others may say different things, I don't care, LOL

So Macrium definitely looks like #1 here. I back up the image of my Disk with Macrium only after major updates anymore if the updates have gone well, that is. I really don't do much on my computer anymore but play a few cloud games and do a few forums. I keep all of my Pictures and anything else I wish to keep on exterior drives. (This is where some of those old drives come in handy, it is so easy to connect through usb.) :) I also like to do clean installs every now and then since I am very frugal on what I install anymore.
Also fully vaxed, lol

Almost correct, Ethel. Basically, he accused Macrium, a very reputable company, of wrongdoing within a poll by skewing the results to suit themselves:

well i coulda told you that about the poll results before it was done xD, i think macrium has a bunch of salesmen and advertisers on this forum for it though

Nothing could be further from the truth. I'd be willing to bet at least 75% of those voting for Macrium are gurus who help people with backup problems at least 50% of the time.

Well I have tried them all, acronis is about the same as win 7 backup about 50% reliable m the others
60 to 75 percent. Macrium has so far been 100% reliable , even with transferring an image to another machine.
So until something better comes along , I will be sticking with macrium .

The decision to backup could be a personal choice, but certainly not the right one if one chooses to not backup. I don't think anyone who understands the importance doesn't backup.

Anyone who claims he/ she doesn't need backups and can set up the system within a couple of hours is for sure storing his/ her files on the cloud. And that IS backup.

And if is time to stop treating any company or its products as godsend. All companies are operating to maximize their revenue and profits, and in the process do a lot of things that aren't in the best interests of their users/ customers.

We have seen giant corporations engage in several activities (they still do) that were (are) a total disregard for people's trust and privacy. The companies we are praising in this thread are just a fraction in terms of size, popularity, userbase or any other parameter.

It would be sensible to treat/ use anything/ everything with caution than 'assuming' something is safe just because some 'gurus' are recommending it. Everyone has a price.

I'm only a small personal user and have less than a half terabyte of photos and data.
All my data is instantly mirrored on Microsoft OneDrive and kept in perfect sync on all my computers.
I do a daily Microsoft File History on a portable SSD that is only attached for the brief time it takes to update.
I keep the portable SSD unattached as I'm paranoid about ransomware.

My computers are always purchased new and are seldom more than 2 to 3 years old. I love it when I get a new computer and all I have to do is log in to Windows and all my data is instantly there as if I never left.

My data is always safely up to date on two local computers, a local unattached SSD drive, and remote cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive.
