I used to like XP, but that was a long time ago. Put me in front of an XP machine today and I'm like "uh, where is everything and how do I do x, y and z. Then along came 7 and I really liked that. Honestly though Windows 10 for me has been the most stable, fastest to install, and easiest to maintain.

I messed around with Windows 1.0 and 2.x versions, and got serious when Windows 3.1 and 3.11 came along (TCP/IP networking -- hooray). Even with all those other versions under my belt, and at least 5+ years' experience with each of them day-in, day-out (less with Vista and Me) I still like Windows 11 the best. It may just be a function of where I put my effort recently as in "Onward, through the fog!"

A good idea may be to set up a small VM and then you can test options and such and see what happens - without breaking anything that is actually important.

Ha! Yeah. I only ever played with 1.0 and 2.0 after the fact. Still have installation 3.5" floppies for Windows 3.1 and 3.11 WfW though.

But I had over 6 years with 10, going back to TP2 in early 2015, and lasting until the first public preview of Win11 in summer 2021, so it took the crown.

Aesthetically, I prefer Windows 7. It just looks better than the new clunky interface.

For the purposes of this poll, I chose Windows 11. It seems to function well enough and I have few issues with it, and unlike Windows 10, which I still use at work, I can actually tell what window is the active one.

Windows for Workgroup 3.11 was my first Windows OS. It was on a Hewlett Packard 286 desktop.

I hated Windows Vista so much that I moved to Linux. When the opportunity to be a Windows 7 tester came along I abandoned Linux and have stayed with Windows ever since. I never used Windows ME.

I liked Windows 3.1 because if you made a copy of C:\windows.....and then somehow broke Windows you could just copy your backup of C:\windows back and it was like nothing ever happened. No registry to deal with and the windows directory was like 10MB in size. So simple in those days.

Most are always gonna go with the latest and greatest version as it will have the most advancements and newest features. It might take some adaption and getting use to but most eventually come around.

The ONLY reason I stayed with Windows 11, was that I found out how to make the scroll bars a bit wider.

Windows 7 was still my favorite..., poor performer but, it's the OS I had the most fun with and the least amount of problems.
10 is solid.
I like 11 mainly for it's performance, and visual simplicity.

I'm with you - Loved Win2K (Windows 2000). Also toyed with the server version, but it was a bit too much for me at that time.

Actually, on current hardware, Windows ME was just fine. No real problems at all, but once I built a new computer with better components, Windows ME took a nose dive and was no longer stable.

Since I've tested every version of Windows since Windows 3.1, each new version was my favorite (except for Windows 8). As I got into each new Windows version, the former version(s) receded further and further into the background.
