Hi

Yesterday I looked for a new email client to replace Windows Mail which will soon disappear.

My requirements :
- Free
- Runs silently on startup in the system Tray. Without loading popup or not opening directly !
- Windows notifications on new mail.
- Dark theme
- Simple and fast.

I tested these email clients:
- eM Client
- Shark Mail
-Mailspring
- Blue Mail

Result:
I keep Mailspring which meets all the above requirements. :thumbsup:

PS: I didn't check the Windows autostart option. I used the task scheduler with the "--background" argument. It starts faster without running update.exe.

Mailspring actually looks OK. Edwin have you tried it?

Does Mailspring sync my email through a third-party server?

No! Mailspring connects directly to your email provider’s IMAP and SMTP servers. Mailspring stores your email credentials securely in your system keychain or keyring, and does not send your email login information to any third parties, including our own servers. Mailspring fully supports VPNs and is compatible with workplace environments that require you not to share your email password with third parties.

In the future, we may add features that rely on having your email credentials in the cloud, such as cloud-based mail rules, snoozing or “send later”. If and when these features are added, they will always be opt-in, and Mailspring will explicitly ask for your permission before sending your email passwords anywhere.

Of course.

This is a first possibility for opening software in reduced mode.

If that doesn't work, the 2nd option is to create a Batch file and run it with the task scheduler.

I do not like that it tries to grab card details ASAP.

It wants an account, but it is skippable, so OK.

It tries to connect using DNS, seriously? :eyeroll:

It does not support Oath2, that is it, 3 strikes and out.

I also use WFC :wink:

and I will block this if it is not essential for Mailspring.

I’ve just realised that Mailspring doesn’t support POP3 accounts. As much as I am migrating most of my email to IMAP, I still have 35 domains to consider (please don’t judge me

)

Forward to: seems to be the simplest. Redirect all mail to a single account, the TO: and From: stays intact.

I understand better why Mailspring did not need authorization to access my Microsoft account, unlike other email clients I have tried.

So many choices these days...,
I still consider eM Client to be tops though!

Mailbird was my go-to, til they gave me the ole greased pole!
Proton still haven't come through on their promises..., doubt they ever will!
