I could use Windows or Linux as a daily driver...mostly I use Windows just because I am more used to it. But I tend to use Linux for certain usage scenarios.

I would not go that far with my Galaxy Note20 Ultra. WP was great but it missing one thing and that is tools, especially for development straight on the phone. And many more things.

If I'd use my phone only as a phone and nothing more, then yes, WP would be great. But I use my phone as a computer. ...the reason I have this expensive phone in the first place.

Win 11 seems a bit steps backward from 10 so I went back to 10.
Sure there are workarounds for what MS changed in Win 11 but I feel why should I have to mod the OS to work like the previous version did.
Seems like MS decided "10 worked good so let us break some things in 11"

As always, the dumb things down and as a "power user" you have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to get the functionality and control that you need, all back.

The one thing that was missing in 21H2 and made a return in 22H2 that I used a lot was click and drag to the Taskbar. In fact I missed it so much that I had to use a 3rd party tool from GitHub to mimic its functions until 22H2 restored it. Groups on Start I missed a bit, but could live without until 22H2.

It was more than just the addition of a GUI, though, as not all modern advanced (back in those days anyway) hardware features could be used without it, at least not unless you knew how to program the hardware directly as opposed to relying on standard BIOS functions. For example, my 212MB Western Digital Caviar came with a driver for Windows 3.1, the purpose of which was to enable the multi block read/write capability that this particular HDD could support so, in a certain way, and depending on how you want to look at it, in spite of the fact that it was still quite limited as a result of it running on DOS it was actually more like an OS expansion, or "breakout" rather than a typical GUI shell.

Split screen was good when I only had one monitor. Dual monitors are even better!

Gary, there is an emerging market in portable monitors that can be carried in the laptop bag, to allow multiple monitors on the move.

I have also seen monitors with two fold out screens [one on each side of the main screen] so portable options are becoming available

I just bought a single extender which has a decent bracket that fixes to the laptop. Quite pleased with it as lack of space was inhibitive to just getting an external monitor.

Granted, there's still pros and cons to each different kind of approach. The Wireless Display feature is still only an optional feature that is disabled in Windows 11 by default, but nevertheless it can be enabled even if you have Windows 11 Home so Windows 11 Pro is not required for this. So, it can be argued that multimonitor functionality has already become so mainstream that you might actually even have it on your computer without knowing it. lol

Also, being on the move a lot doesn't necessarily always have to translate to travelling alone, there can still also be the kind of teamwork where it is considered completely normal that two people sitting beside each other (e.g. on a train/plane, at a bus stop, in a local pub/restaurant, at a hotel, in an office/conference room, etc.) each have their own mobile device that they can then basically decide to just put beside each other pretty much whenever they need to. Similarly, when you travel with your mobile devices maybe you might travel to a place where you are given access to devices that can also be used as external monitors, or that can act functionally equivalent to them. The combination of factors like these contributes to why portable monitors have only very limited use so the market continues to be too small, their pricing vs display quality will remain relatively too unattractive as a result of thinner laptops and tablets getting more powerful and cheaper all the time.
