Poll: Windows 11 - Love it or Hate It?

Windows 8 and especially 8.1 - probably the most horrid OS that Microsoft has ever produced! Hated it.
Windows 10 - a big improvement from Windows 7. A lot of people hated how MS rolled it out.
Windows 11 - not much more than a redesign of Windows 10, but I like the changes.

Just my humble opinion from foggy memories of OSes long, long ago. I was a beta tester for Windows 95 back when you had to have a second phone line because each new version of Windows 95 took about 12 hours to download via modem.

95 was the groundbreaker but I didn't like how it built up massive amounts of temp files that had to be cleared
I loved 98SE. It was a big improvement.
never tried 2000 or Me
Absolutely loved XP. It's still my favorite version.
Vista was not very good.
7 was great. My first foray into 64 bits and I liked it. Still do.
8 was the worst ever as far as the UI goes but under the hood, it was actually better than 7. I hated using it and had a 3rd party Start menu
8.1 was a lot better but I still used the Menu from Classic Shell
10 I love and no longer needed the custom menu. I think the Start Menu of 10 is great and the OS is a lot better than 7.
I like 11 and over time, it will become more and more distinct from 10. It actually seems a little faster to me. In gaming and SSD speed, it seems better.

Windows 11 has a lot of bugs, besides microsoft says that windows 11 is more secure than windows 10, is windows 11 at this point secure?

What security offers an operating system with a lot of bugs?

Bugs aren't the same as security :) . Bugs are glitches in the software that don't necessarily make it insecure. Security means you're less likely to be hacked. Bugs mean annoying things that don't work as they should. But they don't necessarily make the system insecure.

I haven't noticed any bugs in Windows 11 so if there are some they're not obvious. But I'm mostly sticking with Windows 10 for now as I really can't get on with the start menu in 11 and don't want to use add-ons. I say mostly - I have Windows 11 on one machine.

Interesting article, but it's possible many of these vulnerabilities have been patched in the month and 15 or so days since the public version was released.

For me Windows 11 is just a 10 with nice curtains. A lot of benchmark sites or testing sites like Nexus are still running tests with 10 on new 690 chipsets and 12th gen CPU. It should get better, I hope it gets better but if it becomes a Vista it will not get better.

I think you are basically correct about Win 11 for now. IMHO, as Win 11 matures we will see a big difference between Win 10 and Win 11. Especially in security. I also think that as Win 11 gets more secure those who are running Win 11 on unsupported device will start having problems or at the least will stop getting updates.

The Start Menu of 11 is okay. The only part I don't like is the lack of an option to remove the empty space at the bottom of it if you turn off the recent and most used features. Being able to use it for more icons would be nice.

I haven't encountered any bugs in 11 but as I have said, I don't use many of it's features. I really don't think I use any Windows feature that has been added since the XP days. To me, XP, after SP2 and 3, was the perfect OS and in my opinion, the best Windows version. I guess it was buggy at first but I never used it before it was on SP2.

It's kind of a silly question, for me. If I hated it I'd be back on Mac. If I loved it you'd never see me on a support Board. (I'd be in front of an Apple store screaming SUCKERS!)

I upgraded my wife's laptop on the 4th of October and so far she hasn't mentioned any problems. I think I can say that she is in the love it group.

Some of us have been using Windows 11 for nearly six months....

...and it has been available for all to try for more than two months now. Warming to it now? Revised your answer to this Poll yet?

Now that I'm more used to it I'm finding the extra clicks for some context menus less of an inconvenience than I had expected. It's a 'keeper' on my two systems that meet the W11 system requirements.

Windows 11 is ok, but there are a few annoying bugs that Microsoft seem to have fixed in Dev builds, but no period has been given to when these will appear in the release version. There seems to be little urgency in getting this done. Some of the new additions to the dev build also seem to be pointless, like they have no idea what new to add. Still far too many inconsistencies in the dialogs, still a lot of old legacy icons floating around.

I think Microsoft might not be updating the release build until after the holidays. At least, I seem to remember something along those lines. Maybe it was no new releases until after Thanksgiving, though.

I think you're correct. They are only updating the Dev channel

I'm still finding my way around, only been using it since the end of November. Got a new laptop that you could set it up with 11 when first starting it up.

I do like having the latest OS though.

Nice.. overall it's great to have the latest OS and 11 is a decent OS.. IMO. I really like it

Not decided but since I have clients that may change in the future I need to know more about it, got a nice 14" Notebook for the purpose couple months ago. Started building computers in '94 in a shop and have had every version from 3.1 and NT 3.5 except never owned WinME or Vista but not difficult to work on. I did acquire a Vista Notebook given to me with hinges trying to break out.
