I have had nothing but problems since upgrading my build to 22621.674.

Both windows settings app and context menus are extremely slow to the point of having to wait for them to show. When clicking search button nothing happens even clicking on the search bar on the start menu it just disappears. I ran SFC it said the files were repaired. Also ran DISM repaired those using the disc, but it did not help.

I do meet the minimum requirements since I built a new rig. Is there any problems I should know about or anything else I can try I really don't want to reinstall at this point unless I can backup just my installed programs and not windows. I am aware of windows backup tools but I can't save to my other Internal HDD and do not have a disc big enough to fit the size it required.

This is just a guess, but...

Does Task Manager show anything running?

Yes it does. I am able to get to that perfectly fine. I also restarted explorer.exe but for some reason it takes a bit before the Desktop area reappears.

I meant whether Task Manager shows a lot of CPU activity.

On my primary PC, I get about 1-2% CPU activity, after Task Manager has been open for a short while. That's with nothing running - just a browser window (with no sound or video) open.

Probably not related but every version of 22621 I have tired on my Surface laptop has distorted all my context menu show more options menus to ugly square white menus and a couple like the safely remove hardware and eject media won't open or function. I had already gone back to ver 22000.1042 twice now and thinking about it again but I really like having the tabbed file explorer with ver 22621.675 thats on it now. I keep hoping a newer version will fix it.

8% there are other programs running in the background too antivirus/anti-spyware and a creative sound app but these have never been a problem in the previous builds either.

Any suggestions on backup methods to back up just my installed windows programs and the registry entries for them? Because I would rather not restore a copy of windows that is not functioning correctly.

I've been running this build since it came out and have not experienced this issue.

You can create a .755 iso from here , and do an in-place / repair install, saving apps & files. However, I would strongly suggest that you take a back-up image before doing this.

Because build .755 WAS released to Windows Insiders on the Release Preview Channel and has NOT YET achieved GA - Retail - status.

Why is it listed as a release Preview and not as retail?
Because build .755 WAS released to Windows Insiders on the Release Preview Channel and has NOT YET achieved GA - Retail - status.
Yes it has, 22621.755 finished its testing with Insiders and went to public release on 25 October. Everyone should see it as an optional update in Windows Update.

How to get this update..

Release ChannelAvailableNext Step
Windows Update or Microsoft UpdateYesGo to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. In the Optional updates available area, you’ll find the link to download and install the update.

It's called a 'preview' update because it offers a chance to get the new non-security updates before they are put into the next Patch Tuesday update.

The “C” and “D” releases occur the third and fourth weeks of the month, respectively. These preview releases contain only non-security updates, and are intended to provide visibility and testing of the planned non-security fixes targeted for the next month’s Update Tuesday release. These updates are then shipped as part of the following month’s “B” or Update Tuesday release.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.
