Solved QTTabBar

All testers have received WB11 already and will be compensated by other means.

At this time, we feel we have all we need to proceed with the program. We thank all that volunteered and are contributing.

When on Windows 10 I can close Explorer with one click then open it and all the tabs will be there.
With Windows 11 when I close it doesn't close them all at once. I have to keep clicking until all have been closed then when I open it again I only have 2 tabs open. Not all the tabs I had before.
I am using QTTabBar 2048 Beta2 and I run the enabler file also.

Has anyone else noticed Explorer with QTTabBar installed has become very slow since a few weeks back?
Some update has negatively affected it :(

On Insider Builds? Yes!!!
I keep floating in and out of the anomaly but, I haven't quite figured out what I need to do yet! 🤷‍♂️

After some experimentation, I find, if I disable the native Tabs feature, via the ViveTool, I get a lot of lag in Explorer...,
... if I leave it enabled but try not to interact with it, things are relatively okay!
There's some conflict going on within the Explorer shell between the two!

I've not really used it in W11 Edwin but is it really needed now that we have native tabs in Explorer.

Also..., if you're running QTTabBar and something like StartAllBack or ExplorerPatcher together, you really gotta make sure their settings match as close as possible.

Why am I not surprised. :D
I shouldn't say they're crap, they're okay in and of themselves, in an infantile sort of way...,
... it's just that QT is so much better in light of what Explorer is capable of..., and MS is trying to bury that!

By the way, the screenshot above comprises QTTabBar version 1038 and StartAllBack and, aside from the aforementioned anomaly, runs pretty much flawlessly..., as of this writing! ;-)

I suspect, the further MS strays from the classic functionality of Explorer, the more likely Quizo will probably abandon the project!

The new native Tabs are crap! Sorry! :cautious:
Yep, it can't even remember your tabs when you close Explorer and reopen them the next time.
It's pretty useless for power users.
Thanks for the Vivetool tip, an update had enabled native Explorer tabs, I've disabled them now and lets see how that goes

After using the Vivetool and disabling native Explorer tabs, Explorer with Qttabbar is working much better, the lagging all the time when switch to and from the Explorer window or when opening new tabs has virtually stopped. The only thing that's still buggy and very slow is expanding and viewing your Quick Access Pinned tabs, for some reason that takes a very long time to expand or even open the Quick Access page in a tab.
But otherwise this is excellent news because Explorer was becoming unusable.

Here's a handy feature I forgot all about:

Change icon text color, added to right click context menu...

0004053.png

I'm actually using it to show which Reports are completed and sent and which are not...

0004051.png

... to enable it on the Desktop, as well...

0004054.png

... you'll need to disable Desktop Icon Drop Shadows...

Edwin that's also a good one for making files you use regularly easier to pick out in a folder.

You can also change the color of the text placeholder...

Another feature I forgot about:
Using the Mouse Hover Preview feature, you can read an entire text based document, (up to 15KB), via Num-Scroll...
(Don't even have to open the document if you just need a quick peek!) (y)
