This is the last Canary Build that works for me. If I upgrade, Explorer goes berserk and QTTabBar disappears completely! 🤷‍♂️

Thanks, I'll keep the ID's handy for when I muster up enough energy to do the upgrade again!

I installed the Windows 26H1 28000.1450 and QTTabbar had no problems.

I was mistaken about having to change folder icon text color, one folder at a time, (unless you want them all different colors!), but, if the same color, simply select all, right click, Set text and background color...

On the Desktop you have to disable Use drop shadows...

Try those Vive ID's and a couple reboots.

Hi.

Tried both old update and the new update ID with vivetool and no luck.

**old update december 2025**
vivetool /disable /id:57048216
vivetool /query /id:57048216

**new update feb 2026**
vivetool /disable /id:5077241
vivetool /query /id:5077241

None work. Microsoft has made some changes or maybe we need a new version of vivetool.

Thank you very much Edwin.

And the Windows 25H2 26200.7922 update, which rolled out a day or so ago for both my PCs, broke things with QTTabBar.
So I uninstalled QTTabBar cleanly, then I ran each of these commands in ViveTool (for good measure):

vivetool /disable /id:57048216 (which I ran previously)
vivetool /disable /id:5077241
vivetool /disable /id:57048237
vivetool /disable /id:58988972

Then I rebooted, reinstalled QTTabBar, and all is working fine with QTTabBar.

The one that's still confusing me is that one PC updated to the new Start Menu, and the other is still on the older Start Menu, but this is less of a concern, since I don't mind either version of the Start Menus.

Kind of a rumble and a stumble to get 2048 beta 2 working...,
had to try Alt numerous times to get the File Menu so I could initialize the first Toolbar!
(This is on my sh*tty incompatible Laptop)

The next time I do a Windows 11 fresh install, I'm reverting to 24H2 non-insider version.
Cos all the "features fuss" was not worth the time wasted on it. :D
