Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. As we all know, Windows 10 is approaching its end of support. I was just curious whether it is worth keeping or creating previous ISO files such as Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

For what purpose would you want to keep them?
Just to test OS in a Virtual system?
Or what else.

Normally spoken I would advice just to keep the latest version of Windows 11, or as in my case, the latest version of 23H2.

Edit: @zbook posted a different opion just a minute earlier. :D

Ever use UUP dump?

Select language for Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2 (19045.5555) amd64

Select language for Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2 (19045.5555) amd64 on UUP dump. UUP dump lets you download Unified Update Platform files, like Windows Insider updates, directly from Windows Update.

Select your language then Next.
Select your version the Next.
Scroll down and select Create download package.

Extract the package to a folder, and in that folder right click uup_download_windows.cmd, run as administrator.

On the end, this is a but; like Dirty Harry says "do you feel lucky?"

I take the view that you image backup the most recent working version of Windows, then upgrade and if that gives issues, revert to backed up image.

Personally, I really do not see point of keeping lots of old versions (backups or isos to clean install).

However, you can get lots of advice for or against saving old isos, and no one answer is 100% right or 100% wrong.

In the end, it really depends on how much storage you are prepared to use having copies of old isos.

In these days of 1TB+ backup drives, it probably really does not matter that much.

A pragmatic solution is to backup old isos but delete them later if storage space is needed.
