Remove Folder PW Protection

Added PW protection on several folders when using Win 10 pro. Transferred those folders to laptop running Win 11 Home edition.
Can I now remove the PW protection from those folders? Do I have to upgrade to Win 11 Pro? No longer have access to the Win 10 PC.

As for folders, I am not exactly sure. If you’ve coppied folders over from an encripted Drive then you may have propblems. Someone else will have to guide you but I do recall other threads in here.

Sorry to say you put yourself in a tight spot - impossible to untie the knots with which you entangled yourself and get out of it.

When you encrypt a folder on Windows 10 using the built-in Encrypting File System (EFS), the password is stored in the user's profile within the Windows Registry, specifically in the local Security Account Manager (SAM) database, which is encrypted and cannot be easily accessed without the correct user credentials.

The only way I can think of : If you have a full system backup of your Windows 10 system, create a bootable Windows 10 system with it. Decrypt the folders using the password and copy those folders. ( By not doing this before jettisoning Windows 10, you had kept the keys inside it and locked yourself out.)
