This tutorial will show you how to rename any shortcuts you want on the Win+X Quick Link menu for your account in Windows 11.

The Win+X Quick Link menu (aka: Power User menu) is a pop-up menu from the Start button that includes shortcuts of common management, configuration, and other power user tools for Windows.

The shortcuts on the Win+X Quick Link menu are broken up into 3 groups. Group1 shortcuts in the bottom section, Group2 shortcuts in the middle section, and Group3 shortcuts in the top section.

Starting with Windows 11 build 22579, Windows Terminal and Windows Terminal (Admin) in the Win+X menu has been replaced by Windows PowerShell and Windows PowerShell (Admin). If you have Windows Terminal installed and would like Windows PowerShell to open in Windows Terminal, set Windows Terminal as your default terminal app.

EXAMPLE: Default shortcuts on Win+X Quick Link menu

Here's How:

1 Open File Explorer (Win+E).

2 Copy and paste %LocalAppdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX into the address bar of File Explorer, and press Enter.

3 Open the Group1 (bottom), Group2 (middle), or Group3 (top) folder for the Win+X Quick Link menu group you want to rename a shortcut in. (see screenshot below)

4 Right click or press and hold on the shortcut (ex: "System") you want to rename, and click/tap on Properties. (see screenshots below)

5 In the Shortcut tab, type the new name (ex: "System < About") you want for this shortcut in the Comment field, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)

6 Repeat steps 3 to 5 if you would like to rename any other shortcuts on the Win+X menu.

7 When finished, restart the explorer process or sign out and sign in to apply your changes to the Win+X Quick Link menu.

8 You can now open the Win+X Quick Link menu to see your renamed shortcut(s). (see screenshot below)

That's it,

They must have moved or added a different location for links in the latest update. (I'm on 22000.469 now).

I checked the directory in the tutorial and in Group 2, I only have "Task Manager" link since I removed the old ones previously. However, the menu added back the old items which I can't remove since they aren't in the folder. But thankfully it kept my custom ones I guess.
