Solved Reset insider win 11 problem

I decided to do a "Reset" to turn on some app protection which seemed to be grayed out in my existing Insider version. I chose the "download" option rather than use the files already resident on my system. I also chose to keep my files. The "Reset" went fine and everything looked ok until I went into Privacy & Security>Windows Security. Every single option chosen under the "Protection areas" (Virus & threat protection, Account protection etc.) refuses to navigate to the chosen page. Instead I get a window popup stating I need to browse the Microsoft Store to get an app to open the link. I also get the same thing when clicking on available options on the Windows security icon in the task bar. Clicking on the link to the Microsoft store shows "No results found".

Has this happened to anyone else? and how do I get around this? I am unable to configure anything under security settings.

It is a bug. I am not sure if you can fix it by installing all updates or using the sfc /scannow command. If it doesn't, I would backup all the data and then do a clean installation (format)of Windows 11.

This Insider iteration is on a Hyper-V VM, so it's no big deal to nuke it just by deleting the VM and creating another one. I am curious though why and how this happened.

Anyone have ideas?

Corrupted system files? Just a guess. Another culprit is missing or damaged fonts, so Windows try to display some text but is not displayed properly.

Interesting, Just updated to 22H2 25247.10000 which apparently fixed the problem.

So there were corrupted system files that were replaced by the upgrade.
