Ricoh Printer not working anymore under Win11


I just thought of something. Are you using the printer software to install the printer or letting Windows install the printer?

My guess is that it's the scanner driver that's not installed. I ran out of ideas on why the printer isn't working. I'll keep trying to come up with some more ideas though.

I'm thinking might be time to find another 11 computer (friend, family, etc.) you can try it on just to be sure it is not a hardware or software issue with your computer. Kind of a last resort thing I guess.

I go to printer and scanner, add printer, i have to look at it manually as Windows does not detect it. By the way I am using printer cable USB (brand new). I have noticed an USB connection on the printer, i wonder if an USB to USB cable would make a difference

Definitely looking more like a problem with the printer itself. No idea what a PC repair shop would charge to hook it up and check, may not be worth it.

"Jeannot18" claims that the printer works with a different PC.

thtas just the title of this thread that you tested when trying to print again. The printer isnt saying anything to you. Thats not an error message.

I'm still not sure why the printer isnt working and I am kind of out of ideas other than trying to network it vs usb to see if that works.

If your using a cable something like this one it might be worth trying a USB to USB cable. Amazon.com

If your using a cable something like this one it might be worth trying a USB to USB cable. Amazon.com

That would be on your printer and not the computer. The computer would be USB. Your post now has me confused. Can you post a pick or a link to pics of the connections on your printer.

That cable is intended to attach an old printer with a parallel port (Centronics) input to a USB port on a newer computer.

A quick check of the specs for the Ricoh SP 204SFn suggests that it doesn't have a parallel port input.

(Unless a scanner can be accessed through a parallel port, it'd be pointless to have one on printer/scanner like the Ricoh.)

UPDATE: The printer is now working. I uninstalled (for the sixth time). Reinstalled it, somehow a copy of the printer appeared (if that makes sense) in the list of printers and scanners which I deleted. I changed the Port for the printer to USB001, funny enough in the Printers and Scanners window, the Ricoh printer says Driver is unavailable. I have downloaded the driver from the Ricoh website (for the umptieth time), but when I run in Device update driver, selecting the download from Ricoh website, it says that the best drivers for your device are already installed (see pictures to make it clearer). At this point I don't really care anymore, the printer is working. The only issue I have is that I can't see the device when I try to scan something (Adobe acrobat).

I glad you have your printer working. I'm not sure if your trying to let Windows install updated drivers or actually pointing device manager to the downloaded drivers. Either way the printer is printing and you don't have to buy a new printer. Out of curiosity, now that you have the Ricoh printing, have you tried doing a scan using the NAPS2 program?

If the scanner still doesn't work I found this driver if you want to try it. That's if you haven't already. If you want to try it I recommend doing a system image first. It took you a lot of work to get the Ricoh printing and I wouldn't want you to have to start over.

Yes, same thing, It cannot find a device. Very strange, under Windows 10 or even before I never had a problem, just connected the printer and Windows was doing its thing

Kudos to you for perseverance, many would have given up and replaced it by now.
