Hello,

I have an EVO 850 and bought my new Samsung SSD 870 4TB. I want to migrate everything including my OS from Samsung 850 to Samsung 870. My Windows 11 is installed to 850 EVO but when i trying to migrate the data with the Samsung Magician, i get this error / note:

Get one of these, install it on the 850 and make the bootable version of the program.
Then "backup" the entire 850 "disk".
Then boot from the bootable media and... restore that "disk" backup to the 870


Or you can "clone" your 850 to your 870, with the same software.

What are you mean with this?

I already make a backup with the Reflect 8 Home Trial. Can i now restore it to the the new SSD?

When i trying to restore see this. What should select?

In your picture, it looks like you can just click "Yes" and then in the main window, click "Next".

I'm unfamiliar with Dynamic partitions, but I assume it will work fine.
The "source" is your C:\ drive and the "destination" is your 4TB drive.

That part is correct.







Please post a Disk Management screen shot.

Ok you want to choose this option in Macrium Reflect...

You want to make an image (backup) of all of Disk 1, and save that backup on Disk 2.

Then, in Macrium Reflect click on "Existing Backups" and on that list, right click the backup you just made and choose...
"Restore Image... "

When Macrium asks where to restore the image... tell it to restore to Disk 0

Just make sure there's nothing important on Disk 0









Short version...

Make a backup of ALL of Disk 1, and save that backup on Disk 2.
Then we want to "restore" that backup to Disk 0.

The method described previously works OK, but the option "Clone this disk..." is the one you are looking for.

Then you select the target disk, and it clones (copies) the primary disk to the one you selected.

I always do things... manually. But that's just me. :-)
I don't know if the trial version allows cloning.

Clone Wizard.... (instructions on page 144 in the PDF manual)...

Or...

Dunno.... I don't use it.
Maybe because there's a dynamic partition on Disk 1?

No. When converting dynamic disk to a basic disk, you'd lose all the data on the disk.




I don't know what you have on the C:\ drive now, but you also have the option of just doing a clean install on Disk 0...

The trial versions have full functions until the trial period ends. I just had to re-enter my license key for Macrium. I only had the options of entering a key or doing a restore. I have no clue why Macrium got deactivate unless it happened when I did the last Canary build update.
