Yes this is possible. I will try the BIOS driver, then a reinstall.

It might kind of suggest though, if things are less crazy, that the graphics driver made a difference but wasn't enough. I'd try the latest Intel one and see if that fixes the issue. It's annoying that HP don't have a newer one for Windows 11.

In my case I did a reinstall but still needed the Intel Graphics driver for things to be stable.

I believe I did install the Intel one recently. Didn't work so then I tried the HP driver updater thingy.

Did the BIOS and the graphics and it hasn't worked, so I'm gonna try the reinstall now.

Well the reinstall worked thank god.

Thanks so much for your help and everyone else who helped!

Windows just did an update and everything seems ok still.

Should I be weary of future updates, or it's likely to be ok now?

Million dollar question.
There are some who "Pause Updates” in Windows update. You can pause them for 5 weeks. Then if a bad update happens you're sure to read about it in here, otherwise install the updates?

I think you'll be ok if it's up to date now, but you might want to pause before monthly updates if you're feeling cautious. Glad it's all ok now. What graphics driver did you end up with? After my reinstall I updated to the latest HP graphics driver. It was ok on that but still a bit iffy with some video playing so I ended up using the Intel one. But different model of laptop.

Yes I will pause for a while.

Thing is I am now planning on moving the SSD to a new computer. Might that cause some issues? I don't know exactly how this stuff works, so maybe I'd need to update drivers at that point or still just leave it?

If you're moving it to a new computer, wouldn't it be easier to do the clean install on the new computer? It'll be activated with the licence for the current computer also.

I suppose I just wanted to fix the issue before I started moving hard drives around.

So should I change the SSD to the new computer and the do a re-install again?

I would personally. I believe there's a way round getting an install from one computer to work on another one, but it could cause more hassle and quite quick to do a clean install. A clean install means the activation, settings and drivers will all be installed for the new computer rather than trying to find different drivers and having issues.

Ok so not a reinstall? I will have to clean install it and lose all my stuff?

If that's the case that's ok I can reinstall it all and save my data on a hard drive. Just wanna confirm.

If you have no other choice, you could try the in-place upgrade. But as you just said you can backup all your files, to ensure that you are not getting left with compatability issues etc, do a fresh install after you’ve backed up your stuff.

Consider also, you may need to purchase a new Windows 11 key, that’s a whole new thread.

However I don't use a Microsoft account to sign into Windows because I find it very annoying. Perhaps I should sign in though before starting this process to make sure it has access to my info?

I've had trouble in the past accessing stuff from my Microsoft account online.

I would make a new thread about activating a new Laptop(?) with an old laptops Microsoft account. Like:
“Can I transfer my Microsoft key to a new PC?”

Because there are mixed thoughts on this. Many say you can, some say you can’t

It's not so much about will it activate, but other issues you might run into, such as different hardware and drivers, or boot problems. Which while they can be sorted out, might take longer than a clean install and still be the odd issue. I guess you could try imaging both computers then restoring the image of the old one onto the new one and see what happens. Although a clean install would probably be quicker than that as well.
