Screen Saver Photo Location

Just updated to the latest Windows 11 and don't see where to select 'show file names' when using Photos in screen saver. Did they get rid of that option?

Select Personal then scroll down to 'screen saver' ........I have mine on Lock Screen.

So where's the option to display file names?

I've been in the Screen Saver Settings, chose Photos, went to the Settings, browsed and picked a folder. The screen saver works fine. The option to have file names shown is not anywhere to be found.

You can select a folder as slide show but not individual photo. You might try putting only one photo in a folder and directing screensaver settings to that folder if you want only one picture as your screensaver rather than a slideshow of multiple pictures.

What I would like is what was available prior to this current update. I could select Photos, browse and select a folder with multiple subfolders all full of pictures. The screen saver would shuffle through all those folders in a continuing slideshow until interrupted by a keystroke or mouse movement. In the screen saver settings there was an option for showing the file location at the top left of each picture/photo that appeared in the slideshow. That option is missing it appears as evidenced in my screenshots.

Now I think about it, it disappeared from Win XP to Win 7?

Alternative solution - use Irfanview to create a slideshow. There's an option to include file details (e.g. $F just for filename). Save the slideshow as an .scr file (Windows screensaver)

Hmmm... I update regularly and the option disappeared going to this latest version. Maybe I had an old .scr hanging around somehow but that seems unlikely. Will look at your suggestion - thanks!

The only way I've been able to make it work, within Windows Screensaver settings, is to use Picasa Screensaver, showing captions..., and all the images have to have captions!

It's a standalone version of Picasa, abandonware, it doesn't connect to the internet.
