They should be in your OneDrive\Pictures\Screenshots folder.

why not just use printscreen
MS has broken printscreen in 24H2, MS loves to destroy things that work. Previously you would hit the key and copy/paste it into mspaint, now you have to choose something and them it saves it somewhere or not. So I use an image viewer to screenshot and mspaint to edit. I had to use the phone for the last screenshot, since printscreen does not work anymore, after 30 years. :ffs:

no it still works on 24h2. just set your snipping tool settings to this:

1740249866384.webp

copies screenshot to clipboard but doesn't save it automatically to pc. you can paste it someone, ie - paint etc, and edit it and then save it

My strict security settings prevent clipboard, but it worked just fine before. MS broke it after decades to "improve" it, like outlook.

"why not just use printscreen" That was nice when I was using "IrfanView" but in there 200 Faq's they post a warning about (having trouble issue)? about a year ago.... I've been using that since 1998..... so much for "Prt Scrn" thanks for the reply TairikuOkami..... but there are over 1000 posts on the ms forums.
amen for the backup

....if you have clipboard locked down, how did this or Alt+Prntsc EVER work properly? they didnt change anything in that regard... only added other options so you have to change the config slightly in snipping tool settings

The snipping tool works nice now - & that's all I need.... we can go on & on .. but, I don't want to waste anyone time. Never used a snip tool until i jumped fro Windows 7 to 11.... Many thanks to all above, :unsure:
EDIT: "My strict security settings prevent clipboard," I have the same issue.....

using autohotkey to remap Win+PrtSc to just PrtSc, open that screenshot in paint (i can change if you want a different program) and then delete all .png files in %userprofile%\Pictures\Screenshots so that it is not saved until you edit it and save it in Paint (or whatever program).

if you dont have ahk installed, i've attached the ahk and compiled exe. will make screenshot work with only pressing PrtSc but will not save it, instead keep it on the clipboard for pasting and editing elsewhere

ahk code:
Code:
$PrintScreen::
{
    SendInput, #{PrintScreen}
    Run, mspaint.exe
    WinWaitActive, ahk_class MSPaintApp
    SendInput, ^v
    Sleep, 3000
    run, %comspec% /c del "%userprofile%\Pictures\Screenshots\*.png",,hide
Return
}
}

What problem(s) does Print Screen in 24H2 have. I haven't tried on my 24H2 install only on my Canary build and it's working Ok for me. If I just use the Print Screen button or run Snipping Tool, it works.

using autohotkey to remap Win+PrtSc to just PrtSc, open that screenshot in paint (i can change if you want a different program) and then delete all .png files in %userprofile%\Pictures\Screenshots so that it is not saved until you edit it and save it in Paint (or whatever program).

if you dont have ahk installed, i've attached the ahk and compiled exe. will make screenshot work with only pressing PrtSc but will not save it, instead keep it on the clipboard for pasting and editing elsewhere

ahk code:
Code:
$PrintScreen::
{
    SendInput, #{PrintScreen}
    Run, mspaint.exe
    WinWaitActive, ahk_class MSPaintApp
    SendInput, ^v
    Sleep, 3000
    run, %comspec% /c del "%userprofile%\Pictures\Screenshots\*.png",,hide
Return
}
}
Thank you will check it out - regards

after doing this yesterday, i decided i wanted quick access to screenshots on my taskbar for using on this forum lol, so i make this one.

1) download the exe (or compile it yourself with the ahk code below)
2) download the .wav camera shutter sound (or use your own)
3) place the exe and sound file in C:\AHK\ (make the directory, or change the code yourself using below)
4) create a shortcut to the exe and pin to your taskbar (you can use the icon attached to change its icon)

once clicked, it will screenshot the entire screen (all monitors if multi monitor setup) and open paint and paste the screenshot in paint and delete all .png images in C:\Users\YOU\Pictures\Screenshots folder (where Win+PrtSc screenshots are automatically saved). this way you can edit it first and save it where desired
*make sure you dont have .png images you want in the Screenshots directory before running exe as it will delete them*

AHK Code:

Code:
SendInput, #{PrintScreen}
Sleep=5000
SoundPlay, C:\AHK\Grab.wav, wait
Run, mspaint.exe
WinWaitActive, ahk_class MSPaintApp
SendInput, ^v
Sleep, 3000
run, %comspec% /c del "%userprofile%\Pictures\Screenshots\*.png",,hide
