Description: APTIOV contains a vulnerability in BIOS where an attacker may cause an Improper Input Validation locally. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can potentially impact of integrity.

Severity Rating: Medium
Description: TCG TPM2.0 Reference implementation's CryptHmacSign helper function is vulnerable to Out-of-Bounds read due to the lack of validation the signature scheme with the signature key's algorithm. See Errata Revision 1.83 and advisory TCGVRT0009 for TCG standard TPM2.0

Furthermore, I have been led to believe BIOS numbers with a letter after them (F14c in this case) are beta releases and I don't install beta BIOS's.

I'll wait for a non beta release. And I only have a 12th Generation CPU on this board.

I don't know what strange game Gigabyte seems to be playing here but I've just checked again and now there's an F14 BIOS available dated June 20th which wasn't there a couple of days ago.

So, they've gone from F14c to F14? And I think there was an F14a and F14b after the F13 release in March.
The way I look at it surely the new, latest BIOS should be F15?

I'll stay with F13 until they sort themselves out.
I also think they did this strange number/letter thing a couple of BIOS releases back as well.

Question about this new vulnerability, I've not update my Bios since they released capsule bios, the last vulnerability, someone would need to be at the pc to have access, yet with the lastest, it can be run like a attachment in a email, is that right?

P.s gigabyte bios like say f14a or b are all like a beta bios and f14 with out a litter is like the final before f15a etc

It's not so much breaking anything, it's more how much slower it makes the pc. From newer micro codes that slow the cpu etc also overclocking settings can be harder to set

I've updated my BIOS to the F14 release dated June 20th (the one which oddly came after the earlier released 14a, b and c) and everything is working well so far.

As usual, the first thing that happens when you boot into Windows after a BIOS update is that annoying "Do you want to install the Gigabyte Control Center?" message pops out from the bottom right side of the screen because the update has turned it on again.

Went into the BIOS and disabled it once more. After I managed to find it... they don't make it easy to find, do they?

I believe the F14C is a beta and the F14 is a release.

I updated my B650 UD AC to F35.
I could not get it to work directly booting from the USB Drive, QFLASH worked for me.

I tend to use QFLASH when I do the BIOS updates, fewer middlemen involved in the process. I reason that the people that know most about updating the BIOS are the folks that are updating the BIOS.

I've updated my BIOS to the F14 release dated June 20th (the one which oddly came after the earlier released 14a, b and c) and everything is working well so far.

As usual, the first thing that happens when you boot into Windows after a BIOS update is that annoying "Do you want to install the Gigabyte Control Center?" message pops out from the bottom right side of the screen because the update has turned it on again.

Went into the BIOS and disabled it once more. After I managed to find it... they don't make it easy to find, do they?

Whenever you update a BIOS it resets to base, which means any personalized BIOS settings are reset to their defaults, and why the GCC install was enabled. Nothing new here. And yes, if you don't want GCC to auto install, you should disable.

I run GCC all the time on my Win 11 Pro, starts up on Boot and several Bios Updates have not been displayed for my B650 UD AC.
I had to manually check for the latest update re the security issue.

I've not seen any BIOS updates in mine either, but I have seen several driver updates.

The latest BIOS updates for my two Gigabyte systems didn't show up in GCC. I have stopped it from running with Windows, I occasionally fire it up to see if there's anything new, but it appears to just be overhead for no reason.
