"Send to" DVD drive failed; blocked use of DVD drive

I must have made a mistake early in this process. I used the send to function from the context menu to send a set of files to my DVD drive. They showed as ready tot copy, but when I tried to paste men the process failed. Windows appeared to think I was trying to copy and write to the same drive (i.e. the DVD drive). I couldn't figure out how to back out of the process, so I removed the 'send to' option from the menu, thinking maybe this would clear the problem. Naive, I know. Now I am unable to use the DVD drive until I get rid of these files that are cued to copy.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. - Estalson

If you right click on the DVD drive, do you have any options.
I haven’t had to do this since Windows 7 so I am really vague on how it was done.

This very possibly could of meant ready to burn to DVD

To replace the send to in the context menu:

Please note: I have a DVD player but it isn't connected, connecting it would be a process I can't perform right now.

Some other things you can try:

• Right click CD or DVD drive and click/tap on Delete temporary files.

• Open Run (Windows + R keys), type shell:cd burning and click OKDelete all files in the Temporary Burn Folder, you may have to enable show hidden files if you can't see any:

Alternatively you can go tp C:\Users\(user-name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary Burn Folder
Delete the files in there.
Again, you may have to have hidden files showing.

With the built in DVD burning function you copy the files and then the message would be ready to Burn.
Then you select the Drive tools Tab in the File Explorer and Burn files to disk.

That maybe all you have to do.

If you have been messing around it may come back with a error message like you already have files ready to burn, as far as I remember it gives you the option to remove the temporary files prepared for burning.
Then you start again.

The location of those temporary files is as given in post #4 but you should not need to go there.

Thanks for your assistance! Problem solved. It never occurred to me to execute the burn command from the DVD drive. I may restore the 'send to' option, but I am going to review the entire context menu; it provides more options than I need and misses some I would like. I only moved up from Win 10 a few months ago. Again thanks for your help.
