Solved Shopping Laptops w/win11, what's popular?

I slipped and slammed my ribs against the edge of a coffee table (n) My 15" laptop has gained weight, just a consideration (y)

I've had several Dell laptops in the past couple of decades. I prefer the XPS series as I love the quality. I always get the extended premium on-site support with full drops-and-spills-coverage, and it is excellent. If there are problems, everything is fixed or replaced right at your home! No sending anything in to be fixed. I love it!

My Dell XPS laptop you see below was chosen as the best laptop by PC Mag. I absolutely love it! The OLED screen is stunning. Screen quality is especially important to me as I use Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom subscription for my photography.

The first laptop I got was an Asus, but that was back in the Windows 8 days, trouble with that was it tended to run quite hot. At present I have 2 HP laptops, one with 10 and the other with 11. I've had no problems with either of them and they are very cool.

The one running 10 was a 2 in 1 convertible and had a 128GB SSD drive and a 1TB Hard Drive, that came with a pen for the touchscreen. It wasn't able to run 11 because of the CPU so I left it as 10 so I can still help out with that OS when I can.

The one I'm using all the time has 11 and a 500GB SSD drive. It's another one that runs very cool, in fact there is no heat from it at all. I've not really explored all its features yet and I'm just running it as it came, apart from putting a couple of apps onto the Taskbar.

I checked the Amazon link. Looks like a decent laptop and at a good price. :)
I'm hoping, the specs look good, and "some" good reviews. I bought a very similar one before but sent it to my sister. I just wasn't using it enough and she really needed one. Now I wanted one like it because it was excellent, and remember enjoying having it beside my recliner and using it on a little, lap-tray I still have. I don't take my laptop with me anywhere, unless I was to move so it being heavier is not a problem. It stays in one place. The lap-tray fits across the arms of my recliner and puts no weight on my legs. I'm so spoiled, LOL!

I prefer the larger screens. The laptop I have now has a 15.6" screen. I won't go any smaller because of the strain on my old eyes. When I take it out to my shed (man cave) I hook it up to a 20" monitor that someone gave me. My main desktop has two 27" monitors. When I purchased my cell phone I went with the Galaxy S9+ because it had the larger screen.

That's another reason I like a larger screen, my eye-sight. The last couple of books I bought online were both such small-print I just gave them away. I read either online, or on my Kindle Fire. Saves on apartment space too  I love my gaming PC (also HP) and monitor, and I wanted to be able to play my puzzle games on my laptop too (The Room series, and House of DaVinci are my faves so far ).;-)

I just bought my wife an Asus VivoBook Pro laptop. It's fantastic for her needs. It's a great system for virtually anything as is has a solid graphics processor, plenty of memory, and a 512GB SSD.

I love the computer itself, but not fond of the changes in Win 11. I'm wondering if it's still ok to downgrade to Windows 10 as your tutorial gives complete directions, and says later, I can go to Win 11 if I decide to??

Perhaps give it some time to get used to Windows 11? I didn't like it at first either, but I've gotten used to it and actually like it better now than Windows 10 (which I'm still forced to use at work). But perhaps I'm an exception. A lot of people on this forum seem to be putting a lot of effort into getting Windows 11 to look and feel exactly like Windows 10. Which is fine off course, but I really think Windows 11 isn't that bad if you give it a fair chance.

I just don't like them making it harder for me to turn off apps running in the background. I just wonder what is the next thing they've made harder. I do games mostly and I since this was the only 17" I found I liked, it had 11 so thought I would try it. I'm not liking it because I'm used to 10 and not ready to learn more "ways" to be honest. So I'd like to hear possibly, from someone that switched theirs back to 10 and everything went well following the tutorial. Also, if I should want to try 11 later, I would still be able to do that?

Before you take that step, may I suggest you use it a while longer. I have not found most of the changes in 11 to be offputting and the ones that really bothered me the most, there are ways to overcome. For me, 11 overall is a really good OS. The tutorial section of this forum has the answers for most anything one does not like. Use the search function of the tutorial index page to find what you want or browse the tutorial section in general.

And a lot of people on Ten Forums put a lot of effort into getting Windows to look like Windows 7. It's just that some people don't like changes, while others are prepared to accept and work with them.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Well said Bree, as always  I'm getting older now, more set in my ways, and I love the laptop, right sized perfect for in home use. I had read Win 11 is much like Win 10, so thought I'd try it out. I'm not even saying I will definitely take it down to Win 10, but I want to know that the tutorial is still up to date. I think it is from 2020 if I remember right. I don't want to mess up the laptop and would rather be forced to use/learn 11 than do that
