Windows 11 Pro 22H2
Hello I just have a quick question.
I'm just wondering on what we know so far on whether we can upgrade unsupported systems to a newer version of Win 11 when it arrives, probably 22H2.
I'm considering upgrading to Windows 11; my current computer has Windows 10 21H2 but is in the unsupported hardware range with its processor. (Intel Core i7 7500U)

I haven't tried out Windows 11 very much yet; I did try it in a VM a few months back and will probably try it again in a VM in a few minutes or so to see how it's going now.
I don't mind if we need to do a bypass patch again for the feature updates. Just as long as they can be installed and be updated.

Thank you :)

MS has said that the ability to continue updating unsupported systems could stop or that updates could cause stability problems. It's very possible that updates will continue, and MS is just saying this to discourage users from upgrading to Windows 11. Only MS can say for sure. If you do decide to upgrade to Windows 11 instead of using a VM, make an image backup first.

Microsoft could turn off the update tap at any time, and I don't see them providing any support for that installation. There may be workarounds, maybe not? I'd only install it on unsupported hardware if there was something I absolutely have to have 11 for. None of the bells and whistles in 11 have been of any interest to me so far, your mileage may vary.

That's great, thank you! I think it's strange that MS are trying to discourage users from upgrading in a way. That's alright. I wish they'd give us a more straight answer to it instead but I doubt we'll hear much more maybe until 22H2 is released.
Okay yes if I do go ahead I'll make sure to do an image backup before. I'm just about to have a look around the VM and see what everything's like now. Thank you again!

You're right; this does slightly worry me as yes they could just cut off updates for us at any point. Although I don't know whether you could just manually download and install updates from the update catalog or whether they'll catch onto that and put it to a stop...
That's great though thank you. I haven't had a lot of experience yet with 11 as my newest computer hardware is in the unsupported category, apart from trialling it in a VM about five months or so back. I like the sound of the new Mica and Acrylic themes coming in the later update but that all depends I guess on whether I'll be able to run 11 on this system or not then. But apart from that I haven't seen anything really of interest to me but I'll have another look at it in the VM.
Thank you as well!

I always found it strange that Microsoft do not recommend installing on unsupported hardware & then give instructions on how to do just that.
