The Orange at Poitiers is the best figures I get. There is one server closer at Bordeaux but all the figures are worse from there. Where do I find a ping return time. I don't see it anywhere or is it calculated? By the way the server at Poitiers is 83 miles away.

It's under Ping (listed in ms)
My server is 63 miles or 30% closer which could explain your delay in return ping time- which means it takes longer to get there.-for @Melchior-
No big deal as it's hardly noticeable.

On my street I have a choice of four Internet providers: Comcast (cable), WOW (cable), AT&T Fiber, and Google Fiber.

Since Comcast uses cable then my download speed is much faster that the upload one. I think that cable does not have enough bandwidth to support symmetric upload and download speeds.

I used to have a Comcast Arris TG1682G Gateway. That was replaced with a Comcast XB7 gateway when I upgraded to Gigabit Xtra (1200/30 Mbps). Last year I was upgraded to Gigabit X2 (2000/300 Mbps). I now have a Comcast XB8 gateway. Comcast said that I had to use their modem to get those speeds.

Another limitations is the Ethernet ports on computers. Most are only gigabit so the fastest I can get on most of my computers is about 940Mbps. I think that is fastest possible with a gigabit port.

I upgraded one of computers motherboard. It has a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port. It is connected to the XB8 Gateway's 2.5Gbps port. The XB8 Gateway's other 3 Ethernet ports are only 1Gbps which is OK because the other desktops only have gigabit ports.

since doing a FULL upgrade to my PC was not an option...

got a new TP-Link Router with WifFi 7 and 4x 2.5 Gbps LAN ports...


All that is left is to get the new modem...
All since I didn't want to pay Comcast a rental fee each month...

That's just the server Speedtest determined was fastest for me. I'm actually in Pittsburgh, Pa. Here's a wild one for you: There is a California, Pa and a Pittsburg (minus the h), California. I'm from Los Angeles so I found all that hilarious.

Anyhoo Toronto, Ohio is a VERY small town. I'm shocked Speedtest has been sending me there lately. I usually hit Comcast in Pittsburgh. Must be something to do with Xfinity increasing my download by 100mbps. :-)

Pittsburg , California is in the Bay Area...there is also a Newark, CA ;) I got an email today from Xfinity saying they were increasing upload speed 75% which based on the 24+ Mbps I already get would be approximately 42 Mbps...but so far no change
