Solved Since updating to W11, Ethernet is dropping

My laptop is connected via ethernet and no issue. But is Windows 10.
Hello 0XEEr, Can you swap ethernet cables temporarily to see if the problem follows to the laptop?

It's tricky with .NET versions as we don't know what you have installed that would require their presence.
Better leave them alone and keep them updated.
Belarc advisor will tell you and point you to those that need updating. Free for home use.

You only need an x86 and an x64 for each year or group of years.
Go by the version numbers and delete the older versions.

It should look like this when you're done...

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
The Visual C++ are usually installed with some kind of video or photo software - if you've got cyberlink or photoshop type thing installed. I would say leave them as they won't do much harm (I think).

I think - if ethernet cable doesn't fix it. I would clean install Windows 10. See if it stops. If it does, you can opt to stay on Windows 10 or do an inplace upgrade to Windows 11 and see if it starts again. If it does, then you;d need to install Windows 10 again.

So as you say if you install Windows 10 and it sorts it you might as well stay on 10 for now.

That's the test though - if you clean install 10 and find the same issue then you know it's nothing to do with Windows 11 and it's a hardware or driver (or internet) issue. If it still does it on Windows 10, then you can do the inplace upgrade to 11. And then go through all the other tests if it's not Windows itself causing the issue.

I think you're feeling it's a Windows 11 issue though if all the other computers etc in the house don't have this issue.

Thank you OAT, Ghot & Hazel123 for advice.
I am not touching those.

By the way, just FYI, this is a list of network adapters in my Device Manager:

So far no drops after 2nd repair, only one small 3s hiccup. Similar behaviour like after 1st repair - It was all good for two-three days, and then it started.

My next steps once it starts dropping:
1) Create mobile hotspot on iPhone and connect to my desktop via USB cable -> if drops continue, then its not HW failure, but OS thing, right?
If drops stop, something is with my HW -> onboard Realtek network adapter OR cord.
2) Switch cord
3) Do a clean install of Windows 10.

I will keep you posted.
Thanks guys.

Since I would want to find out if the ethernet cable was indeed the problem, the most direct way is to do the cable swap first.

Guys,
So it seems like double repair did the trick, but who knows.
I mark this as solved. In case of issue re-apperars, I'll reopen.
Thank you very much everyone for help,
Martin

No one is asking to disable any protocol , it said disable the preference of IPv4 over Ipv6,
Sorry if it was not clear enough.
Please refer to Post #16 in this thread to see how it's done thru the registry.
