Sleep mode issue

Device manage is clean from bad icons and I use both Intel driver assistance and driver booster to keep my drivers are up to date and they are up-to-date as of now.

Hi

Check your Task Scheduler .. local
Most programs you use will "phone home" to update
the time it does this will vary
should be at least a couple in your case Intel/iobit in your case

the computer are full awake as if they never went to sleep
You do not need to settle for "as if". The Event viewer Custom view I gave you will tell the whether the computer stayed awake or went to sleep then woke up.

Best of luck,
Denis

It doesn't let me download the zip file. It says I'm not logged in (opens a new tab) and asks for user/pass, then it says thanks for logging in but then returns me to the page of not logged in... is there another way for you to attach the file? Thanks.

Re-attached & tested. It is now OK.

I had previously copied the text & the download link from an older post of mine. The download link was to TenForums rather than ElevenForum and that was what caused the login request.

Thanks, I'll give it the night and see what happens tomorrow morning.

OK, when I woke in the morning it was asleep and I woke it up - you can see it in the following screenshot (11:14):
in 11:14, it says returned from a low power state but in the details it says: wake time 08:14. 11:14 is the right time I woke it up. What does it mean?

Later today, after more than 1 hour of idle, it never went to sleep.

My own one shows wake time in GMT [my timezone] whilst the event itself is recorded in BST [my current daylight saving time].

If I had sleep problems, I would reinstall the display driver before bothering with anything else [and I mean re-install not just check for updates].

Other then that, I think you should use the posted guidance about checking with the commands
Powercfg -requests {this one requires an Admin cmd/PS window}
Powercfg -requestsoverride

Best of luck,
Denis

I'll try to re-install the display driver.
regarding the cmd commands - they always show none/empty.

I re-installed the display driver, there was a newer version of it so I should have done it anyway but while yesterday during the day it went to sleep, when I woke up this morning, it was awake. Anything other idea that I might be missing?
Thanks

That Event viewer, Custom view will tell you both when & why it woke.

Nope.
Here's the thing, I went to sleep and it was awake.
I woke up in the morning and it was still awake -> nothing in the event viewer.
I got here, wrote my message and went away for some time.
I went back, saw it's asleep (I don't know why it was asleep now but not during the night, thus my question, the inconsistency).
This time the event viewer shows the relevant information:
1650197127302.png

Nothing between yesterday (16/4) and today (17.4).
today 11:25 was 2 hours after I went away after posting here.
15:02 is when I got back and woke it up myself.
Bottom line: nothing woke it up, it never went to sleep in the first place.
Thanks.

One idea, and it is no more than an idea, is to deliberately reboot your computer every day to see if it makes a difference.

I started doing this years ago because I found that my Windows 7 computer did not sleep when told to in Power options towards the end of the day if I had been repeatedly sleeping & waking it up manually during the day. Deliberately restarting the computer daily stopped this happening almost all of the time.
- I have recently seen this symptom on my Windows 10 computer for, I think, the only time.

Best of luck,
Denis

Interesting, so on a day where I wake it up manually (I just did the second time today), I should restart it just before (I'm) going to sleep?
Did it change anything eventually or you just continue to do that?

I do not think I ever saw the sleep problem unless I had slept-woken it manually five times or more.
I do not think I saw it if I'd only slept-woken it manually once or twice.

I continue to do a restart daily. I find that it also helps avoid intermittent problems with the desktop not refreshing automatically.

You have to Disable Allow Wake Timers in Power Options.
Why aren`t you turning off your PC when you are done with it ????

Been there done that :)

And why would I turn it off? :)
There's a long and never ending discussion about which is better, no one ever reached an agreement so for years, with all my computers, I kept them on.

I don't turn off my PC each night after use, I just let it go to sleep. In fact, I rarely shut down my PC, just let it sleep.

Anyway, as I said on the first page, check for drivers.

    This is my backup system.
I always find that hibernate and fast startup can cause issues with sleep so I disable hibernate in an elevated command prompt with powercfg -h off. That command also removes fast startup.
Sleep works fine on all of my laptops.
