Sleep mode issue

I don't turn off my PC each night after use, I just let it go to sleep. In fact, I rarely shut down my PC, just let it sleep.

Anyway, as I said on the first page, check for drivers.
I checked for drivers, I even updated the display driver but still.
Sometimes it doesn't go to sleep during the night and sometimes during the day (when I go out), inconsistency all the way.

I always find that hibernate and fast startup can cause issues with sleep so I disable hibernate in an elevated command prompt with powercfg -h off. That command also removes fast startup.
Sleep works fine on all of my laptops.

On my computer it is set to 60 minutes (monitor) and 120 minutes (computer), because the monitor didn't go to sleep, obviously the computer is awake as well. I updated the display drivers but to no avail.

Because of the inconsistency. I don't know what is causing it.

To be honest your issue is rather confusing. Are you running a network or streaming to other devices? Seems like some background service is waking or preventing the PC from going to sleep.

What that service is I've no idea since each PC is different based on hardware and software installed. You might also add "tweaks" to the mix. With that, and being you tried many things, the only other suggestion I might offer is a clean install. A bit drastic, but.... And there's no guarantee that'll solve the issue, especially if a piece or hardware or software you install/reinstall is causing the issue.

Good luck.

Based on the help from someone else here in the forum, it seems that something prevents it from sleeping and not that something wakes it up.

There are commands that show what wakes the computer up, but no commands to show what prevents it from sleeping.

At least try my suggestion. If it doesn't work then just turn hibernate on again. powercfg -h on

I agree with @Fabler2. Hibernate causes all kinds of weird issues. It's worth turning it off long enough to test if it's causing your problem. You can always turn it back on.

That was fast. After doing the above I went away for more than 2 hours, I came back and the monitor was awake :(

Should have mentioned to reboot after disabling hibernation sorry. Restart shuts down the processes etc. and you start with a proper boot again, unlike shutting down. My bad for not mentioning it.

I had perfectly working command in Windows 10:
rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0
It had saved as "sleep.bat" and defined to triggered by a certain key on Microsoft Wireless Keyboard v2.0. Why this do not work in Windows 11?

A requirement for that to work is that hibernation is disabled.
Is yours?
By the way, that shortcut still works in my WIndows 11 computer. I have hibernation enabled so, on mine, that shortcut hibernates it.

I assume that your computer has S3 Sleep available.
use this command to check:-
PowerCfg -a

I've always preferred using a NirCmd shortcut to sleep my computers.
...\NirCmd.exe standby
It still works in Windows 11.

To clarify my above post I did not create a text file. I created my .bat file, named it. Then I created the .vbs file pointing it to my .bat file. I put both .bat and .vbs files at root of C:
On my desktop I created a shortcut to the .vbs file and named it 'sleep'.
Yes as stated it is for s3 sleep only.
Attached are my files, readme included.
