Sleep / shutdown Problems

Hi Everyone
Just recently, I noticed that my PC is not going to sleep at the programmed time. Several Days later, (a further change) I found that instead of going to sleep, the PC now started shutting down completely instead of sleep.
I have tried all the usual checks - but no success. I have not made any recent chage to hardware or software. Is there something obvious I have not tried?
Your thoughts would be appreciated
Colin

the PC now started shutting down completely instead of sleep
I suggest you reinstall the display driver in case it has become corrupt in use [there is no diagnostic test for this].

I would normally suggest that you check for updated bios, update chipset and IMEI drivers along with updated graphics driver, but if this is the PC listed in your specs, then it is doubtful that a motherboard supporting a 14 year old cpu has had updates for these devices or bios in a number of years.
I also suggest to disable fast startup and set your power plan options back to default.

Hi zbook - thanks for your reply. I run the powercfg entry - it completes and states operation succesful.
It then directs me to users etc
The following then occurs
C:\Uers\Colin - ok at this point BUT no appearance of AppData - so cannot proceed.
Hope this makes sense
Colin
