Did you rule out the chair and static? Because that what was causing just one monitor to go off with others in that article. It thought the fact you had the exact same Ikea chair had solved it! Easy test would be just take the chair out of the room for a while and sit on a bog standard kitchen chair or something for a day and see if it stops.

Is it something you could just live with? I am currently having to live with an annoying foible in the way my email auto suggest keeps suggesting a faulty email address! I've lived with it for four years - tried to sort it - just accepted it as it is now!

I wonder if the two monitors were swapped which one would turn off upon leaving the desk.

According to that article about static, it was always the middle one I think. ie the one nearest the chair. But yes that could be a test too.

I'll admit that I AM on carpet. . . . I can't test on hardwood floor. . .

Yes, I have swapped the two monitors, and switching the two, made no difference. . . I swapped them, and made "DISPLAY 2" to DISPLAY 1" And DISPLAY 1 still done the same thing.

Okay so both monitors are capable of cancelling when you leave your desk. This narrows it down to your interface since both monitors are identical.

Yep, sounds bout right. I might just have to install Win11 X-Lite to see if that fixes things. . .. . I done a fresh install last night, and it fixed it, for a few hours, but started back up again. . . Or maybe my monitors are just demon possessed

I don't believe in any sort of thing, of course. . .

It's kind of an intriguing quirk. Could even save you some pennies off your electric bill. lol That X-Lite fixed it for a time sort of points to a presence sensor somewhere because X-Lite removes a whole lot of bloatware. That it comes back points to your IKEA chair so it could be one of those combinational issues. Hazel might have just called it.

You wouldn't need to change the carpet - just maybe get an antistatic mat as and when you can afford it. If you get it from Amazon, you could try it and if it doesn't work, send it back again. What I'm not sure though is whether it means an antistatic mat for the carpet under the chair, or an antistatic mat for the desk, under the monitor!

ie this?

anti static mat for desk

or some kind of rubber based floor mat to go on the carpet under your chair

Yeah I'm considering asking Mom if she will buy me one of those. I hate this, big time. . . I know it's not dangerous to my electronics, but it's just annoying. .

Not saying to go back to it. Just suggesting to use a different OS to see if it still happens. If you already use X-LITE it shouldn't be that difficult to try a different version. Try a non-activated version of Windows 10 or anything other than 11. This way you could eliminate whether the OS is causing the problem or not.
